it's good that you specified what network his show is on, otherwise i would've assumed he fronted a band called My Cat From Hell

I hate this cat demon man.

He carries around his cat supplies in a guitar case.

He is so emo about cats and their issues, I just can't.

He's a very odd dude but quite effective in training humans to interact better with their cats.

Nothing is ever the cat's fault -- he's always blaming the owner for not buying the cat enough toys or rearranging their entire house/furniture to accommodate the cat. Sometimes cats are just assholes?

imagine you hung out with this guy. there'd be a moment like at the bar or at the end of dinner. he'd take off his glasses, and you could see the glasses-crease on the side of his face, and the flat top of the sideburn.

Hahah so it turns out that the other day at my birthday party down here, a friend of mine knows this guy! She said she's a longtime friend of his girlfriend, and says he's actually pretty cool in real life. I dunno, I was more bemused by the show than anything else.

He reminds me of this asshole I know who goes by D@ve-O and has annoying catch phrases. For example, if he shows up at a party and someone says, Hey, it's good to see you D@ve-O, he says "It's good to be seen!" He would think this cat idiot was super cool.

He looks awful but he's actually a pretty decent guy from what I can tell.

He's a geek and sartorially embarrassing, but he knows cats. Cats really aren't that hard to figure out: the crazy ones need to play hunt, the mean ones are hurt or don't have a quiet spot to be alone, the ones with bad bathroom behavior are sick or have a grungy, badly placed or inappropriate litter box, and they all appreciate a little cat style communication (blinking, purr-talking, petting). I don't think he's a genius, but I do think a lot of cat owners are idiots.

There have been several episodes that have boiled down to "your boyfriend is an ass".

Cats are pretty simple andf ppl are, indeed, prone to be idiots. This is essentially the entire premise of the show.

Would be interested to know how he deals with cats who weren't properly weaned off their mama's teat, as this has been the case with every broken cat I've ever known. Also is some variant of this problem the reason why he makes himself look like that.

michael white and grady otm: the look is a huge, huge problem, but he seems like a decent guy, and he clearly knows & loves cats. figure his appearance is some consequence of horrible LA style and the need for everybody on TV to have some kind of trademark (same thing, i guess).

I don't have a lot of experience with improperly weaned cats who are terrified of everything (because I like to adopt the ones that will talk to me in the shelter), but the ones who don't know their limits in playfighting because of early socialization issues aren't too hard to deal with: control your fear and don't react big, punish only by ignoring, and (as Galaxy says every episode because, duh, these are cats), make sure they're playing enough and have appropriate stuff to kill. That's worked for me a couple of times.

She hasn't ventured into the higher shelves yet, but as you can see, she is interested. It took about an hour of fishing pole play and a pile of treats to get her into the first one, but she's jumped up there on her own a couple of times since. I think if we do the same with the next two, she'll be queen of the shelf wall in no time.

I don't know why I keep typing into instead of onto. Whatever. I'm excited.

I know you're dying for more cat shelf updates, but the cat has now traversed all three shelves without any prompting from us, and hung out up there rubbing her face on them for awhile. They are her shelves now.

jenny i am very proud of your recent cat architecture achievement but i feel that i need to be honest and say that i really wish you and jeff had applied to be on the show and have jackson galaxy come over to your place instead

I would love Jackson Galaxy to come to our house! But Francie is not a cat from hell. She's just a weirdo. Maybe Jackson would like to come over for dinner one night.

i love our cat despite having to get allergy shots on the reg. this is what happens when you fall in love with a cat owner and don't want to let something insignificant like an allergy stand in your way. i should order this book for her!

I hate cats exactly because there's really no arguing w them or retraining them, you just have to do what they want for them to be any better. This is clearly untenable bc the only asshole in my home is going to be me.

However I think this show is genius and JG really really is what sold me on it. I thought it would be dumb and gimmicky and he would be like "KA-BAM! LET'S TAKE THIS CAT TO THE NEXT LEVEL" or whatever but he is just so cool.

we (me and my gf) have recently had big health issues with her cat, and there was a lot of mistrust in vets after being suspicious of the one vet she's always gone to and then deciding to get a second opinion and being told that vet #1 was treating her problems with a weird, unorthodox approach that was probably detrimental to her health, and we just spent a week stuck in total confusion and despair and terror about this cat and why she was just refusing to eat and then started vomiting when she did start trying

and this whole time i was just irrationally thinking "i wish jackson galaxy could be here" cause he would know what to do and also understand just how important this cat is to us and how freaked out we were
