C-D That annoying tic where your eyes want to read ahead a few paragraphs and spoil the next plot point

Does this happen to anybody else? I seriously always have to fight my eyes to stay fixed on the paragraph they're on, as peripherally they always seem to pick up a key word in a future paragraph about some plot development and then I wind up reading ahead and have to go back. Drives me nuts!

i cover the page when i start doing this, only usually happens to me near the end of a novel

i don't have this with text. i do have it with comics, where my eye in first assessing the page picks up the punch line (if it's a gag strip) or some crucial element that would have been better absorbed in sequence.
