It's always the same episode!

There are a few TV shows that I only watch now and again. But, it always seems to be the same episode.

Examples: Buffy - the one where Bridges is an evil robot or the one where she meets Dracula

Clueless - the one where main girl has to go to convention with geek

Dexter's Lab - the one where he battles his sister in big robot suit

Does this happen to you with shows you hardly ever see? Will I always see the same episode whenever I watch any of these shows?

I watch The Simpsons whenever I can, and it's always the same episode.

me + my flatmate had this bizarre thing
whereby *every* time we tried 2 watch
'police squad' it was the episode with
the boxer. every...single...time.

Animaniacs - it's always the one where Pinky & The Brain try to take over the world by travelling back in time and changing history.

original Star Trek - it's always the one where Kirk gets split in two (this is because this happens in every episode).

The News - it's always the one where some guys are telling me about world events.

The Office, for me, is always the episode with the guitar. In fact, I made this point to my friend the other night after he'd suggested we watch an episode, and he abruptly fast forwarded on to the next one :)

Terry and June is always the one where his boss and Japanese clients are coming for dinner.

I saw two simpsons episodes I hadn't seen before the other day, I was mightily shocked.

Whenever I watch the Simpsons it's a different episode, but AT LEAST half the time it's a Halloween special with horror movie pastiches. I don't get too crazy about this cartoon, and I only end up watching it once every few months when there's nothing else on (I only see terrestrial UK TV). Can any Simpsons addicts tell me how likely this is, statistically? For instance, if there're only six new episodes a year or something, then I suppose it's not too improbable that I always see the one out of six that is halloween.

terrestrial uk viewing does get a lot of repeats, as they only have a limited number of series. I think

the bbc simpsons random recycle principle is that any show from any series can be shown as a repeat any time: obviously this means that we are likely to have seen the very first eps several million times more

the bbc simpsons random recycle principle is that any show from any series can be shown as a repeat any time:

The US syndication random recycle principle is the same. I've seen the Halloween episodes in July, September, and January.

In answer to Eyeball Kicks: they get about 22 new episodes a year in the states. They may show the halloween ones more often over here because, let's face it, they are the best.

I keep seeing the alternate universe Friends (Fat Chandler etc), to the point where I was wondering if they did an entire series of it.
