AHHHHHHHHHHHH
GHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 01:52 (thirteen years ago)
this is no way to sit
I am a grown ass man
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 01:54 (thirteen years ago)
and you're gonna do it again tomorrow
― dayo, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 01:54 (thirteen years ago)
tomorrow? I'll do it again in like 15 minutes
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 01:56 (thirteen years ago)
and then hobble around the house groaning like someone's just slashed my achilles tendon
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 01:57 (thirteen years ago)
I have this problem, too. I thought I was the only one. I also with my legs crossed in pretzel knots.
― youn, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 02:24 (thirteen years ago)
you think nature or instinct would train us not to assume a position that will in short order cripple us
BUT NO
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 02:27 (thirteen years ago)
maybe I need to ditch the chair and sit on a nice hueg pillow like a pasha
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 02:28 (thirteen years ago)
I do this! I often sit with one leg tucked underneath me or my legs totally crossed even at my desk. It's not good.
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 02:34 (thirteen years ago)
we must look like preschoolers
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 02:44 (thirteen years ago)
I know. :/ Sometimes I catch myself doing it and try to sit nice and straight and professional but it never lasts long.
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 02:48 (thirteen years ago)
I have never sat like this in my life
― gimme prizza (crüt), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 02:50 (thirteen years ago)
well, maybe a few times on the floor, but it was not a sustainable seating position by any means
I have a bad habit of sitting with just the balls of my feet on the floor, heels raised, like I'm about to get up, but I'll sit that way forever and then one or both of my feet fall asleep and CURSES RAGH
but I also fold one foot up under too
― Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 02:56 (thirteen years ago)
feet falling asleep is annoying
one or both legs falling asleep and attendant pins n needles as blood flow returns is RRRAAGRRRRAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH ARRRRRRR BRAGHHHHHHHHHHAG

i sit like this :-/
― original bgm, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 03:27 (thirteen years ago)
pretty sure one of my legs will just fall off at some point
― original bgm, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 03:28 (thirteen years ago)
my 9th grade history teacher told me I sat like that because of something about my hips and that I should try not to do it cause it would make them worse.
I still do it but mostly with my right leg now instead of both. A bartender I knew used to tease me - "why are you kicking yourself in the ass?"

I always sit like this so I can read on the train platform. Don't care if anyone thinks I look dumb.
― tanuki, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 04:22 (thirteen years ago)
i . . . am also able to read on the train platform while standing? also on the train and most other places?
― mookieproof, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 04:31 (thirteen years ago)
u are very special too mookie
― Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 04:32 (thirteen years ago)
i know!
but so can we all be, by standing upright, perhaps
― mookieproof, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 05:04 (thirteen years ago)
maybe if I notice myself sitting with my les tucked under me I will try to stand up immediately and be more special
― Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 05:23 (thirteen years ago)

"special"

nope
You put those air quotes away mister
― Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 05:31 (thirteen years ago)
I can stand and read too... I just don't like doing it! ¯\(º_o)/¯
― tanuki, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 05:41 (thirteen years ago)
I just caught myself doing this. I always do it the same way so that it's my left leg tucked up under my right with my left ankle sitting right under my right thigh. Never the other way round.
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 17:12 (thirteen years ago)
My wife and I were out getting something to eat a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe I saw a grown-ass woman sitting like this in public:

― Frank Youngenstein (Phil D.), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 17:20 (thirteen years ago)
I never do both legs like that but do the one leg thing so often and now can't stop noticing each time. Last night on the bunch while waiting for the T. This morning when I came into work this was the way I first sat down at my chair. :/
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Thursday, 5 April 2012 14:55 (thirteen years ago)
nb I wouldn't do this if wearing a skirt and nice shoes but put me in jeans and flats and in a place where I'm comfortable and all bets are off.
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Thursday, 5 April 2012 14:56 (thirteen years ago)
It's either this or I have my legs crossed. Sitting with just my feet on the floor is really uncomfortable for me.
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Thursday, 5 April 2012 14:58 (thirteen years ago)
that picture.. I can't even figure out how a body can get in that position. did you people all have your kneecaps removed?
― gimme prizza (crüt), Thursday, 5 April 2012 14:59 (thirteen years ago)
i really hope nobody itt sits on their legs while using the toilet
― i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 5 April 2012 15:00 (thirteen years ago)
that photo is exactly how I sit
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 15:01 (thirteen years ago)
sometimes one leg, sometimes two, I like to switch it up
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 15:02 (thirteen years ago)
my hips hurt just looking at that pic

I think this is like that thing where if you fold your hands, you always put the same thumb on top of the other, and if you switch it feels really weird, somebody told me once it had to do w/ dominant side of brain?
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 15:04 (thirteen years ago)
I'm not a particularly flexible person either, my body shape is like early troglodyte

Also fuck your young, healthy knees.
But actually last night I was sitting in a chair kind of slumped down and sideways on my right hip with my legs crossed and when I got up my entire left side was asleep or cramped. From here on out, I will only sit like this:

i just tried sitting with my right ankle under my left thigh and it is not comfortable
bodies are so weird

NEVER! Just so that's clear.
I am weirdly flexible and double jointed. Not because of any exercise (lol, yeah right) or anything I do, I just always have been. I can do weird things with my elbows and stuff too.
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Thursday, 5 April 2012 15:17 (thirteen years ago)
Huh! I just tried it with my right under my left and it was totally weird. Just tried the folded hands thing and am definitely left thumb over right. Interesting!

Huh? If you were kneeling, couldn't you then just sit down so that your but was resting on your calves? That's basically what she's doing. I thought most people could do that even if it's not that comfortable for some?
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Thursday, 5 April 2012 15:20 (thirteen years ago)
butt
not but
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Thursday, 5 April 2012 15:21 (thirteen years ago)
anytime anyone wants to use that frog-in-gradually-boiling-water sheeple cliche they should just refer to this habit instead, it is infinitely more relatable and thus scarier

the positioning of her feet is what's throwing me off.
I am trying to sit on my calves and I keep falling over
― gimme prizza (crüt), Thursday, 5 April 2012 15:43 (thirteen years ago)
also my knees hate me now
I do this all the time on the sofa. And I have terrible circulation, so I get super-plus double-bad pins and needles death.
― emil.y, Thursday, 5 April 2012 15:45 (thirteen years ago)
it's the worst
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 16:42 (thirteen years ago)
Often, I'll snooze in such a way that my legs both fall asleep. I won't know that until I try to stand up and I find myself on the floor, face down.
― fka snush (remy bean), Thursday, 5 April 2012 16:45 (thirteen years ago)
once I woke up to someone slapping me repeatedly in the face. it was my own hand.
my arm had gotten wrapped behind my head which cut the circulation off so completely my hand had gone totally numb and started thrashing around. was prolly about to go necrotic.

― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:51 (thirteen years ago)
and yet you still sit on yr legs :)
One worse than the other but I know both were pretty messed up. She just toppled over and landed on top of herself.
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:52 (thirteen years ago)
I can't stop!
Do you guys also do the hopeless limp-running around the sofa to try to wake your sleeping leg up? IT HURTS, BUT IT'S THE ONLY WAY.
― emil.y, Thursday, 5 April 2012 18:02 (thirteen years ago)
E, your story is horrifying. I've blacked out from standing up too quickly (especially at the gym after working out), but I've always had a few seconds of 'ooh, I'm going to fall' before actually falling.
