the late great, Sunday, 8 April 2012 18:23 (thirteen years ago)

Wallace had the sort of bulldog tenacity that makes a great reporter. I'm not sure how easy he'd have been to live with, tho.

Aimless, Sunday, 8 April 2012 18:46 (thirteen years ago)

I told Mr Veg that Mike Wallace had died and he said "All that and more."

;_;

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 8 April 2012 18:47 (thirteen years ago)

Mr Veg said they saw Wallace at a Sacramento restaurant when he was a kid once. His Mum stared for half an hour before the waitress confirmed that yes it was Mr Wallace. I asked Mr Veg if she talked to him or said hello, he said "No she just stared at him for 2 hours", lol.

Sorry that's not a very good story but it made me laugh.

Mr. Veg must be very very old.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Monday, 9 April 2012 01:30 (thirteen years ago)

he had abt 40 years on kinkade though

♆ (gr8080), Monday, 9 April 2012 01:33 (thirteen years ago)

Like Kinkade, for a while there, a huge percentage of Americans also had Mike Wallace in their homes. He was no Painter of Light, though.

To be fair, Mike was a lifelong depressive, suicidally so, he once admitted, completely married to his job, and couldn't have been much of a father. Poor Chris did the best he could, but he took a wrong turn somewhere. It's not like dad was around to hold his hand.
