I find Simon's contribution a touch suspect.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 13 September 2002 07:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Graham (graham), Friday, 13 September 2002 08:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Graham you have never been so mean in your life evvah!!

Thank you Melissa I shall take that as a compliment! Another person said that he thinks of me whenever he hears Ludd Gang by the Fall (carve a hole in the raaaaaain for yaaa), which I think is another compliment.

Which Orbital song Sarah, I loike them all.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 13 September 2002 12:38 (twenty-three years ago)

"King In A Catholic Style" (studio version or live rendition) --> Steady Mike.

Downstairs at The Poetry Café, (?) June, 2000, clamour for The Clientele to play an encore, this song was Mr Jones' suggestion.

David Moore (Mooro), Friday, 13 September 2002 12:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh gosh, something "part two" :) Actually it just makes me think of Gareth but I'm sure now it will remind me of Ronan "feeling the vibe" too (possibly). And it reminds me of a tent in a field, dunno why because I certainly didn't hear it in no field, no sir.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 13 September 2002 12:47 (twenty-three years ago)

it was 'nothing left part 2'. and it does sound like a tent in a field. that carnival music that only exists at festivals...

gareth (gareth), Friday, 13 September 2002 13:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm loving these CDs by the way Gareth, was out all night last night and for some reason I've not gone to bed yet but I'm really getting into the stuff.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 13 September 2002 13:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom (Groke), Friday, 13 September 2002 15:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Hahaha, the deZurik sisters and Long Lanky Woman remind me of Tim.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 13 September 2002 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I thought of something that made me think of you Sarah but then I forgot it. Today has been a deluge of cockfarmery.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 13 September 2002 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

No one thinks of me SHOCKAH!!!!

Graham (graham), Friday, 13 September 2002 15:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Graham if I ever listened to Helen Love I am sure I would but I don't because it's wretched!

Tom (Groke), Friday, 13 September 2002 15:32 (twenty-three years ago)

(I obviously meant in a wider sense, but whatever)

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 13 September 2002 16:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am shocked at no mention yet of Lloyd Cole!!

Tom (Groke), Friday, 13 September 2002 16:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Has anyone heard Lloyd Cole? I believe him to be a ... chimera.

Graham (graham), Friday, 13 September 2002 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

"everybody in the house of love" = ILX in general

Anyone associate me with a song, I doubt it, I'm too me for that.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 13 September 2002 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Brian Mowrey (Brian Mowrey), Friday, 13 September 2002 16:11 (twenty-three years ago)

"Lay Lady Elaine"-->Ethan
"Talk Dirty to Me"--> jel
"Murder on the Dancefloor"--Graham

Arthur (Arthur), Friday, 13 September 2002 16:11 (twenty-three years ago)

mitch lastnamewithheld, Friday, 13 September 2002 17:48 (twenty-three years ago)

HAHAHAHA! Everytime I put on the Gravediggaz now I AM GOING TO THINK OF NED (poor Ned, it's involuntary REALLY)!!! I just know Ethan had been waiting for years for the opportunity to post that and implant the ASSOCIATION in everyone else's minds hahahaha

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 13 September 2002 18:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Ever since I got that album (what, 5 years ago?), that Gravediggaz song has reminded me of Ned. Likewise, I can't hear "Children's Story" without thinking of Dave "The Dope Fiend" Raposa.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 13 September 2002 19:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex, what's yer new AIM nickname or have you put yerself on invisible just fo-ar may? heh

nathalie (nathalie), Friday, 13 September 2002 19:16 (twenty-three years ago)

"thong song" reminds me of Ned! haha!

since the whole panties thing, EU's "Da Butt" reminds me of Ned..."Ned's got a big ol' butt..."

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 13 September 2002 19:23 (twenty-three years ago)

It makes all my hyper little posts seem so worthwhile to know people think of me, sniffle, seriously though it's a cool quirk of liking music.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 13 September 2002 19:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Fine fine, I see, I am MOCKED. It is a cool Gravediggaz song, tho.

I find the EU association even more suspect. Lyrically, at least.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 13 September 2002 19:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yeah?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 13 September 2002 19:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a bunch of these, but they don't make any sense: i.e., they are mostly songs that I don't know to have any connection with the person in question. For instance, one day I started associating Heavenly's "Modestic" (really the whole of Decline and Fall) with Katie.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 13 September 2002 21:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Nath, I am still clobberthesaurus on AIM, but I am not working past 3am (Pacific Coast Standard time) these days!! I just figured you weren't loggin on in the morning anymore!! But I am still online at work (6pm to 3am or so) AND I would certainly nevah block-ah you!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 13 September 2002 21:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex, nah, I don't log on in the morning (afternoon nor evening) much anymore. SEND ME THAT DEATH METAL MIX CD though! ;-)

fuck you all *severely drunk*

david h (david h), Friday, 13 September 2002 23:15 (twenty-three years ago)

haha none more, lazy - ronanonanism.

david h (david h), Friday, 13 September 2002 23:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I kind of meant songs that remind you of them despite not being directly connected, but okay.

Does anything but Radiohead remind anyone of me?

Melissa W (Melissa W), Friday, 13 September 2002 23:19 (twenty-three years ago)

The Notwist "Pilot", whenever it comes on on shuffle, cos I downloaded it after looking at your blog and I really like it but I'm yet to see the album reasonably priced in a shop. Plus the video for Answer the Phone is heartbreakingly cute.

Graham (graham), Friday, 13 September 2002 23:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a Penderecki CD which I picked up supercheap. I never get round to playing it but whenever I see it on my shelf I think ah, Melissa likes him.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 13 September 2002 23:27 (twenty-three years ago)

songs which i've had specific conversations with people about. 'roygbiv' might make me think of ethan, or 'rider' might make me think of rainy.

ron (ron), Saturday, 14 September 2002 00:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan, you make me feel real. Now where's my damn Cure CD?

David R. (popshots75`), Saturday, 14 September 2002 00:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I heard a cool-sounding Cure track ("Just Like Heaven") on a movie last night and the first thing I looked for was Dan's opinion thereof.

The Mountain Goats remind me of J0hn Darnielle

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 14 September 2002 01:16 (twenty-three years ago)

the blue nile rock. but what rocks more is, although it is cheesy, or the idea of it is cheesy, but the performance isn't, anyway, what rocks is the acoustic mist of daniel bedingfield's "gotta get thru this", where he just soaks into the song, the muss of his voice sounding like a non-muso Jeff Buckley, then squalling to the point it sounds like its struggling out the studio and the the guitar leitmotif kicks, and kicks again, and kicks... and david wells up.

david h (david h), Saturday, 14 September 2002 06:02 (twenty-three years ago)

ILX POSTER MAKES ME THINK OF ALAN T.

Nitsuh: The Booklovers, the divine Comedy

suzy (suzy), Saturday, 14 September 2002 18:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I just looked at Suzy's name and three songs flashed through my head in quick succession:

"When Will I Be Famous?" - Bros
"This Charming Man" - The Smiths
"Love Is The Law" - The Suburbs

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 14 September 2002 18:37 (twenty-three years ago)

(Oh, and Graham? "Just Like Heaven" is the song that lured me into my raging Cure fandom. I still think it's one of the greatest pop songs ever written.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 14 September 2002 18:37 (twenty-three years ago)

haha but i don't even LIKE the fall

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 14 September 2002 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 14 September 2002 23:38 (twenty-three years ago)

House Crew - "Euphoria (Nino's Dream)": Gareth
happy now?

Paul (scifisoul), Sunday, 15 September 2002 02:02 (twenty-three years ago)

these threads are always depressing because no one ever mentions me. I suppose I need to post more often or something.

um...any song by the Clash reminds me of the 534,000 people here who hate them!

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Sunday, 15 September 2002 06:02 (twenty-three years ago)

haha Justyn I am currently third on the recent postings (still well behind Ned, even though he's on holiday!) and no one mentions me either! I am clearly doing something very wrong - or, and I think this is the more plausible explanation, I have such diverse, interesting, well-rounded tastes that no individual piece could possibly be sufficient to evoke me in people's minds. Or no one has noticed me yet...

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 07:20 (twenty-three years ago)

thanks RON! fair enough that i'm not assoc with a choon, as my musical posts are um, inconsistent. i'd like to think that people would think of me when Underworld's Kittens is played, or alternatively i "own" the Magnetic Fields Take Ecstacy With Me and Kennedy by the Weddoes.

I think of you all, all the time, choon or no. Oh, and Ronan during the obv Lazy of course (doesn't everyone?). The VibRibbon song = starry, Centrefold = mangus, SSC's Haters = emma, Lamb's Gorecki reminds me of a non-poster friend of mine who i ended up croaking a rendition of it in a trance club. weird.

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 19:59 (twenty-three years ago)

i've just bought some stripey socks. i wish i could be just like julie ruin. she's my hero! my cute friend chloe and i skipped downtown and went to the library. ok i like chocolate. i don't know what else you need to know.... tomorrow i'm going to buy a copy of naomi klein's no logo!!!!!!
because i am strange and just have a constant urge to spend money, i am now very poor!!! we're cosmically spiritually intertwined, duuuude!!! EEK.

today my lecturer started talking about marx and engels - as if the world wasn't already trying to turn my life into a belle and sebastian song. while i'm complaining, i really fucken hate pretentious-ass diaries. and there's so many of them. and they're all so, so bad. everyone should just write about robots and masturbation. then i'd be happy. mwahahahahaha. its about time, took me what, 10 whole minutes to think of a new diary name.
