Roasted almonds are better to eat by themselves than hazelnuts. I kind of prefer them in chocolate as well.

I really like hazelnuts in choc and my dad's homemade hazelnut ice cream is some of the best I've ever had but almonds are my favorite nut of all time and one of my favorite foods in general. I can't not vote for almonds. <3 almonds <3

hazelnuts are great, underrated nutmeat. good in chocolate, for snacking, in meusli & granola. nutella also a mark in the hazelnut's favor. but it's hard to beat an almond. top class nut, imo.

raw almonds, and anything made with almond extract or almond flour, is maybe the only food that i've tried that makes me gag. roasted almonds otoh have been my daily lunch for months now.

hazelnut milk is awesome. hazelnuts with roasted beans and red peppers is also awesome.

i've never been able to get there with walnuts. they remind me of sad christmas bowls. bitter, woody, grudgeful things. plus i can get cheapish pinenuts at the foreign store.

I voted hazelnut because I'm drinking hazelnut coffee right now, but I like almonds and walnuts as well.

I drink almond milk regularly. Well, I shouldn't say drink because I've never had a glass of it but it's almost exclusively what I use in my coffee and cereal and stuff.

Take raw nuts
Place in blender (preferably a vitamix or similar)
Add about2 cups of water fOr every half cup of nuts
Blend for 5 minutes
Strain through cheesecloth
Profit

You can also add vanilla or cocoa or sweetener

though i voted for the almond, i find marzipan hideous. sometimes i will buy a nice croissant or such and find that the night man has secretly filled it with dreaded marzipan. the rank faeces of magical gnomes.

I like them both, but I somethimes get a mild reaction to hazelnuts (tingly mouth), so I limit my intake. I eat almonds much more freely.

i voted almonds, but i almost went with hazelnuts, because my bf loves hazelnut lattes. and i am supportive of his decision.

I soak the almonds for a day before making almond milk iirc. Also a thing with walnuts you can do is put them on a baking sheet (probably on some parchment paper on a baking sheet) and sprinkle some soy sauce and bake at 400-ish for five or ten minutes and then remove from the oven and let em cool a little. or do the same thing with a little oil & salt & pepper. also do this with almonds, the soy sauce version idk about the oil salt pepper version w/almonds but the soy sauce home-infused almonds will give you perspective on your life

^^ this soy sauce thing is also delicious when it is done to cashews iirc

i have become a bit allergic to hazelnuts over the past five years (tight throat, difficult breathing, itchy mouth) and it makes me super sad - fresh cobnuts used to be one of my favourite things.

i bought some almond butter recently: i don't really... get it? it doesn't seem to taste as good as, like, actual almonds.

They're both super-sweet cos they've added a shitload of sugar to them. The hazelnut one has the edge though imo.

BTW raw spinach and walnut salad with some french dressing, fresh tomatoes and wholegrain bread = BEST LUNCH EVER

soaking nuts & then doing stuff with them is a great move. like cashew cream, blending water-bloated cashews to houmous consistency & then using to thicken & kinda sweeten soups and stuff.

almonds are >>> hazelnuts, here. hazelnuts have a better name. but there are two variants of almonds, which is a nice plus. i don't eat chocolate, and eating blanched almonds reminds me of white chocolate. i like how they're slightly soft, & you can break one into two with your hand. it gives them a little of a pistachio rhythm. I feel like the are more uses for almonds, in cooking, as well as them being more delicious in general. almonds.

1 pkg unflavored instant oatmeal
1 handful almonds
1/2 sliced banana
1/2 cup milk
1 tiny drizzle honey
microwave all together for like 1-1.5 mins
add another splash of milk

Hazelnuts win, even though I eat more almonds. That's only bc almonds are more readily available. Hazelnuts are special, and have a drier, more brittle crunch, which is totally to be preferred.

God I love walnuts and pecans too. To be honest I can't think of a single nut that I don't like.

peanuts are great! only seem boring due to ubiquity. great flavor, essential in all sorts of cooking.

brazil nuts are just the worst. terrible texture, no flavor, the worst. even the lowly walnut shines in comparison. (and, yeah, i agree that walnuts are great in salads, okay in cookies & quickbreads.)

You guys are all weirdos. Brazil nuts own. I will gladly share mixed nuts with you any day.

Brazil nuts in the shell are a very tough nut to crack. I can never get them out whole. Maybe if I were a toucan it would be easier. As far as flavor and texture go, I find them a bit bland and very slightly fiberous compared to other nuts, but they are still a pleasurable nut to eat.

I don't know that I've ever seen them in the shell. I like their texture - they remind me of macadamia nuts.

To be honest I can't think of a single nut that I don't like.

The only time I've disliked the taste is if they're stale or oversalted.

there are brazil nut flavor toffees in Australia (& probably the UK for all I know) - they are fucking delicious
