He sure was, it was not his paranormal powers but work for the poor and his life of true christian virtue and love that got him cannoised (he is now St Pio . That said, the evidence and documentation relating to the stigmata displays and his healing powers is compelling to say the least(though the church banned him from celebrating Mass for 10 years in the 1920's as the heirachy was also skeptical- they worried he may have been using some sort of acid to burn the holes). Am amazing, fascinating man. Yeah Im a fan.
