What would be your theme song?

I know a music question, but still, I'd rather ask it here! You know if you had a TV show or you were a wrestler or whatever, what would your theme music be?

jel, Saturday, 11 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Rufus Wainwright- Trafalgar Square.

anthony, Saturday, 11 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ha. Me and the most lyrically acclaimed Ethan were talking about this the other day.

"...Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!"

"Sky's The Limit", by the lyrically acclaimed, I like this young man... the Notorious BIG. Without a doubt. I think it could even be a catchy nickname.

Ethan, what's yours?

Greg, Saturday, 11 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"He's the greatest dancer"

DG, Saturday, 11 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Set it Off" by Peaches.

anyone noticed that the 150 lb. (10- 11 stone) Spike Dudley of ECW is back?? the most diminutive of the Dudley Boyz, his only move is the Acid Drop: launches off top rope, grabs opponent's neck w/ankles, and slams them to the canvas. it actually looks more painful for him than for the Dropped foe.

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 11 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I just thought of mine!

Europe - the Final Countdown...it starts of with these nice keyboard drones and then builds up to the truimphant tune that we all know and love. I could imagine walking to the ring to that!

You have to sort of admire Spike Dudley, he's got guts even 'playing fighting' with guys twice his size. He looks like Garth from Waynes World.

jel, Saturday, 11 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Full Grown by Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. (although I like Anthony's the best so far - I would pay big cash to see an openly gay pro wrestler).

Dave M., Saturday, 11 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Smells Like Queer Spirit - Pansy Division.

Geoff, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Butch and Femme , Geoff we could be a tag team.

anthony, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Fear, "I Don't Care About You"

I would've gone for "I Love Livin' in the City", but I think Robin C already took it

dave q, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"What A Way To Die" by the Pleasure Seekers.

duane, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

we could have the bitch-slap as our special move!

Geoff, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

my wrestling theme, as expressed to greg the other day, would be ll cool j's 'jingling baby' remix, set to start on the 'i'm a bad / word the the mother' part that redman sampled. however my theme song just for everyday life is either tribe's 'electric relaxation' or some random de la song.

ethan, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

but why did the dudley boyz go over to the other side, I don't get it?

oh, my theme song? god knows? Only losers take the bus by Fatima mansions possibly, seeing as I'm about to get on the coach to go back to London

cabbage, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Selfish and Lazy and Greedy" by Gokart Mozart (Lawrence from Felt and Denim):

People working on market stalls,
People getting up at the crack of dawn,
Poor sods freezing in winter time,
Getting arthritis when they're 29.

I tell you people like me,
Oh we don't give a damn,
We like staying in bed if we can,
Oh people like me,
We're selfish and lazy and greedy.

Probably this applies to most people here, so something more personal...hmmm...

Graham, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Bad Rep" by Joan Jett was good for "Freaks & Geeks", and I'd most likely steal the idea for meself.

Simon, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

We would so win. Feel the wrath of our Bitch Slap !

anthony, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Any Dead Man Ray song because it appears to be understandable. But when inspected closeby you notice incoherent rambling. Listen to the voice talk random words tossed in the air... fallen on the ground and then blown your way. This may be more profound than you think. Or not. Choose whatever suits your fancy. Skip song you like best and then proceed to tune that you dislike... analyze and embrace it.

nathalie (nathalie), Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I didn't say a Dictators song 'cause it seemed too obv. But, a Dictators song. Either "Young, Fast, Scientific" or "Two Tub Man" ("I can go anywhere/people look, people stare/they all know that I'm the one/not to let yr son become"). Or maybe "Sleepin w/ the TV On".

duane, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I always tell everyone that I'd like to have Daft PUnk's Da Funk play every time I enter a room. So it's obviously going to be my pick.

Ally, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

These three cover most bases:

"No Man's Land" by Fairport Convention, "Folk Me Amadeus" by Momus, or "21 Seconds" by So Solid Crew.

Robin Carmody, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Accurate answer is 'Tired of waking up tired' by the Diodes, but after my morning coffee, it goes all Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet's 'Musical Interlude'.

Kim, Sunday, 12 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the theme music to Quincy MD

gareth, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

gareth, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

CLEARLY "Invasion of the Gabber Robots" by The Laziest Men On Mars. For great justice!

Dan Perry, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Old theme song: "After Hours," Velvet Underground.

New theme song: "The Whole Shebang," Grant Lee Buffalo.

Lyra, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"The Whole Shebang"? An inspired choice! Ned like.

"Headhunter" by Front 242 for me, thanks.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I wanna change mine to "Lady Marmalade".

Ally, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

New version or old version, Ally?

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

or All Saints version?

jel, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I had blocked the All Saints version from my mind. Bleah.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ned, good choice if only cause Front 242 is Belgian. hah! They are still at it by the way. Actually they have a new member: ex-Kiss My Jazz guitarist.

nathalie (nathalie), Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Old version.

Ally, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like the costumes in the video for the new version, even though the song isn't impressive. One of three times I have ever watched MTV.

Lyra, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Not "Arthur's Theme", that's for sure.

When I was a kid my theme song was "Make Your Own Kind of Music" by Mama Cass. Now it's probably something much gloomier, like "Swinging Party" by the Replacements. Although I was listening to the Chills "Heavenly Pop Hit" on the way to work and it made me very happy, so *that's* what it's gonna be today.

Arthur, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)
