Astronaut ice cream: delightful treat of the future or inedible chalk?

I always thought it sounded EXOTIC and TANTALIZING because astronauts ate it! Astronauts!
I thought freeze-drying technology was futuristic and hip, even though it's well older a generation than I!
I was jealous of any mortal who had the chance to taste it!
When I got to try it...I liked it! But it's polarizing.

it's been so long since i've had astronaut ice-cream, but the styrofoam mouthfeel sense memory stays with me. i think it's pretty good, but still somewhat disappointing.

Never tried astronaut ice cream, but I'd give it a go. I remember seeing them demonstrate astronaut beef stew on a TV show once. It looks like dried poop. Then they added some water to it and it looked like diarrhoea. So yes to astronaut ice cream, no to astronaut beef stew.
