Envy. Pls stare creepily at Astrobotnia for a few seconds from me. One day I will live somewhere where I can actually go to stuff like this. Admittedly I'll probably be about 90 at the time, and since I already get so many "haha look at the uncool grandma" looks at gigs that I haven't dared to go to one for months... b-but I can dream, right?
(This year = first that the Mercury prize winner has been younger than me, I suppose. I don't know if this is confirmation that I am now REALLY OLD or if it means I am only slightly too old so far until you consider the fact that I'm trapped in the middle of nowhere and have done and am doing absolutely nothing with my life and I don't even have a cool haircut or anything.)

from the moment you are born to the moment you die you are older than someone, rebecca
also: janacek wrote all his best music after he was 70
also: slow and steady wins the race
also: a stitch in time saves nine

Plus remember Rebecca, your haircut coolness is very much on an upward trajectory.

well, we went to the brockup, got there about 9.30, aphex was playing jungle stuff, it was this warehouse on brick lane, and you could hear it right the way down the street, i mean, you couldn't miss it
just started to get going, when the police shut it down, about 11.30, just i was beginning to come up, everyone else just went home but that was not really an option. i hooked up with these 2 people that everyone seemed to know from sonar in barcelona, and we went to fabric (again! two weekends in a row! why?)
kid 606 was playing, i've got to be honest though, hes not very good at all is he? woo, look how wacky i am, i'm messing with gabba. how crazy! yea, right. so its like a threeway between Lenny Dee, DJ Assault and Bogdan Raczynski, except they're all, like, a hell of a lot better than the kid is. there was electroclash in the main room, but it was kind of blah. for some reason ended up in the vip room. man, that room is awful. a) i hate the concept of vip rooms anyway (hardly 'feel the vibe' is it? spirit of '88? ahhahahahahahaha!), but everyone was so braindead! went back into the tigerbeat room, did i mention brad laner (yes, medicine brad laner!) was djing, although we missed him. this girl asked me my name 3 times, where i was from 3 times, then i asked if i was a virgin. then she said, if i'd said yes she would have taken me home for sex(!) eh? quietly made excuses and went into another room.
it was a shame because the music at the braindance brockup was really good, and i missed d'arcangelo, and then fabric was just, you know...fabric

haha Rebecca I don't think any winner of the Mercury has been as old as me. At least they nominated Bowie this year (which is a good thing only in this respect). This year is the first winner under half my age, I think!
