season premiere was pretty funny. one of the guests seemed genuinely pissed off he wasn't booked on a "real" talk show. hot package was pretty good, too, new show by the TV Carnage guy.

missed the rollins episode but this week's finale was basically exactly what i've been wanting the show to do from day one.

I don't think standup is where he excels best, but he has kind of an astructural style like Bob Saget which I enjoy

Thank u 4 reminder to record the encore presentations overnite, missing the season premieres would have been tragic.

first two episodes are not good. mostly callbacks to old gags and lots of guests who are clearly aware they're walking into a goof. everything has felt stale and canned so far.

All true but for some reason watching it on a whim over lunch without any expectations I still idly enjoyed it. My critical brain was totally not paying attention.

i mean i'll keep watching it! but these felt particularly unengaged to me and, given eric's generally uninspired work since s4 wrapped, i'm a little worried

s5e4 starts off a little slow but is one of the better eps in many seasons.

yeah, both 3 and 4 were steps up.

I've been doing my umpteenth rewatch of the series before starting the new season. I've seen it all enough at this point that it's a pleasant surprise when, say, tap sensation Savion Glover still somehow catches me off guard and sends me into fits.

lizzo up and omarion are good high points

the constant callbacks get a little tired though. did we really need another riff on the classic "time to deliver a pizzaball" melody

Blasted through s2-5 over the past couple of days (the latter for the first time). Season 5 really only suffers in comparison to four previous seasons of maybe the funniest show of all time. That's a lot to live up to. It's just too bad that the funniest bit of the season (The Pageant) happened at the absolute end of the season.
