another anniversary: 20 years since the Sabra & Chatilla massacres

The murders of some 1500 mainly Palestinian people in Beirut by Israel's Lebanese allies started twenty years ago today, continuing over the following three days. Israeli forces did not take part in the massacres, but they did assist them by preventing people fleeing the area and by dropping flares at night so the murderers could continue their work.

Old news perhaps, but the overseer of Israel's part in the operation is now Prime Minister of Israel and an ally of the USA in the War on Terror.
