OK, so I'm slightly offended that Donna gets three welcomes, whereas I started posting a week ago, and only got one.

-- nory (norywinslow@yahoo.com), September 15th, 2002.

So this is the thread where you can say hello to Nory, or ask her questions about her life, or her evil cat, or be rude to her, or whatever. Suggested topics: ballet, the 1920s, foods without sauces or condiments of any sort whatsoever, children's books, and cast members from The Real World: Seattle.

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 16 September 2002 19:54 (twenty-three years ago)

hi nory tell us all about your evil cat

donna (donna), Monday, 16 September 2002 19:57 (twenty-three years ago)

and welcome too......:-) fellow-newcomer

donna (donna), Monday, 16 September 2002 19:59 (twenty-three years ago)

hi nory!! do you live in nyc? if so, rockin'. we should hang out - we will eat food with no sauces or condiments and party like it is 1929 (minus prohibition)

geeta (geeta), Monday, 16 September 2002 20:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Nabisco, my cat's not evil (really, Donna, he's not)!

p.s. Donna thanks for the welcome...and hi geeta, yes, I do live in NYC, and I'm always up for condiment-free food!

nory (nory), Monday, 16 September 2002 20:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I said hello to nory on that thread!

But hip hip hooray for nory! on her magical ILX introduction day!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 16 September 2002 20:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I hardly ever welcome anyone because I still feel like a new boy and therefore it seems presumptuous, like being at an acquaintance's party and standing around at the door showing people in and saying "make yourself comfortable!" But, for what it's worth from me, a big welcome anyway.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 16 September 2002 20:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Awwwwww, you're all making me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

And Martin, you still feel like a new boy? That sure puts things in perspective, from a newcomer's point of view.

nory (nory), Monday, 16 September 2002 20:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Hello Nory and cat. Tell us about your non-evil cat. Well, tell me about your non-evil cat, anyway. Err, if you want. (I'm not very good at these kinds of threads. Hrm. But hi and welcome all the same.)

Rebecca (reb), Monday, 16 September 2002 20:23 (twenty-three years ago)

RW Seattle? I am intrigued. (Obvious Dan-baiting, Nabisco!)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 16 September 2002 20:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I am sort of feeling that I'm at home here now, Nory, up to a point, but I've only been around here for six, seven months. I did feel that making the first part of Nabisco's FAP movie was quite an honour. I still won't feel like an old hand here for ages and ages, though - but this probably says far more about me than about ILX.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 16 September 2002 20:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Welcome, Nory. I've only been here for about five minutes myself so please don't ask me anything complicated.

Further to Martin's point about still feeling a bit of a newbie, I wonder at what point people suddenly *do* feel as though they are established old-timers? Maybe (Graham Cleverclogs) someone could invent some way of showing the number of posts you have made, which would automatically appear next to your name each time. Then when you had reached, say, 1000 posts then you would officially lose your newbie status. Or something. I'll just shut up then, shall I?

Welcome, anyway. Just ignore me, I'm rambling again.

C J (C J), Monday, 16 September 2002 20:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan- My only formal connection to RW Seattle is that, in a very happenstance sort of way, I ended up out at a club one night in a group that included that guy w/ the mismatched eyes (I can never remember his name).

He was a real asshole, which I'm sure comes as no surprise, and seemed to think that having been on the show gave him the right to be excessively touchy-feely (read: wouldn't keep his hands off) with all the girls there.

Not much of a story, really.

nory (nory), Monday, 16 September 2002 20:57 (twenty-three years ago)

I suspect I won't suddenly feel established. I certainly feel much closer to that than I did in March, unsurprisingly, and will feel as if I belong even more next March. I passed 1,000 posts some time ago - I'm pushing 500 in the last month! (i.e. I may not have been one of the first in ILX, but I'm among the mouthiest) - but as a man who works with databases all day every day I would very much encourage Graham to politely decline CJ's suggestion, as if Graham needs me to point out the costs of such a feature. If anyone is interested in stats, the Users link at the bottom provides some.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 16 September 2002 21:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Nory, I thought Janet Real World was there as well?

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 16 September 2002 21:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, Nabisco, Janet was there, but she was so dull that I remember absolutely nothing about her.

nory (nory), Monday, 16 September 2002 21:10 (twenty-three years ago)

So I just went to look at the stats, and Ned has just recently passed 10,000 posts to ILE! Hooray for Ned! Mark S will be joining him around Christmas time by the look of it!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 16 September 2002 21:11 (twenty-three years ago)

hello nory! Come meet a bunch of NY ILXoRs on Saturday.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 16 September 2002 21:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanks for the invite, Felicity, I'll try to make it (though, pathetically, I rarely make it out of Manhattan).

nory (nory), Monday, 16 September 2002 22:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey.

Graham (graham), Monday, 16 September 2002 22:15 (twenty-three years ago)
