i got kind of abruptly dropped this week from a temp job i'd been at for a few months so i'm kinda feeling ann right now

goonrise zingdom (some dude), Thursday, 28 June 2012 14:36 (thirteen years ago)

lol I watch Today while I get ready in the morning and I love Ann. I didn't get to see the end and can't watch it now but while I drove to work the radio guys were saying that Matt was all fake and holding her hand and hugging her and ugh. Ann deserved better. :(

:( sorry to hear that, al.

horseshoe, Thursday, 28 June 2012 14:37 (thirteen years ago)

nah it's ok, i kinda knew it wasn't gonna be long term and i have a better-paying thing i'm also doing, but still i liked that place, kind of a shitty feeling

goonrise zingdom (some dude), Thursday, 28 June 2012 14:38 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah (some) dude, I'm sorry too.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Thursday, 28 June 2012 14:41 (thirteen years ago)

What does she mean by saying she was a groundbreaker?

calstars, Thursday, 28 June 2012 15:01 (thirteen years ago)

this will always be classic

This is why I didn't think she would every work as the main co-host of Today, she has an awkwardness about her that doesn't lend itself to interviewing guests.

I found him in a Bon Ton ad (Nicole), Thursday, 28 June 2012 15:07 (thirteen years ago)

maybe first asian-american today host or something like that? (xpost)

"we're being given a chance to do the work that MOST of us got into journalism to do."

i like that line. and "fancy new titles".

scott seward, Thursday, 28 June 2012 15:46 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, that's exactly what she meant by groundbreaking. I don't think she was the best fit but I love her and I'm sad for her. Pobre Ann.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Thursday, 28 June 2012 16:04 (thirteen years ago)

what happened, was she a bad host

surm, Thursday, 28 June 2012 16:18 (thirteen years ago)

bad ratings

scott seward, Thursday, 28 June 2012 16:21 (thirteen years ago)

who is that other woman, moma or something? hoota? hoda? what show is she on? she seems very like approachable

surm, Thursday, 28 June 2012 16:23 (thirteen years ago)

Looked up Connie Chung because I thought she had hosted Today (she was on NBC Sunrise), and how had I never heard about:

In the wake of the April 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, Chung asked an Oklahoma City Fire Department spokesman, "Can the Oklahoma City Fire Department handle *this*?"

I looooved that article

hoda nkotb (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 21 April 2013 02:19 (twelve years ago)

You know NBC is in the weeds when they seriously consider Megyn Kelly for the co-host job.

The last of the famous international Greyjoys (Nicole), Sunday, 21 April 2013 11:35 (twelve years ago)

what stunned me is that NBC makes $500M a year on that show

The Great Natterer (dandydonweiner), Sunday, 21 April 2013 12:37 (twelve years ago)

Megyn Kelly? That Fox dope who always looks like she's smelling shit?

sons of plutarchy (will), Sunday, 21 April 2013 12:56 (twelve years ago)

i mean it's on the air for something like 23 hours a week, even if the individual ad breaks aren't as lucrative as for prime time or The Tonight Show or whatever, it adds up. (xp)

New York published a similar article last month: http://nymag.com/news/features/today-show-hosts-2013-4/

I watch "Good Morning, America" for reasons unknown; at least it aired more hard news when Charlie Gibson hosted.

i was surprised to learn recently that america despises matt lauer. what happened, what did he do

The New York version of that article is way better than the Times version - no surprise there.

i can't believe i read all that. all of these people seem awful (to a one, basically)

otm. That NYT mag article was eye-opening in that I had no idea the morning shows still depended on pre-internet models.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 21 April 2013 22:43 (twelve years ago)

lol don't most legacy media outlets?

The Great Natterer (dandydonweiner), Sunday, 21 April 2013 22:43 (twelve years ago)

you're talking to the guy who still watches Diane Sawyer (and network news >>> cable this week).
