Smoked salmon, ground black pepper, and -- screw it -- open a bottle of chablis too. Make a morning of it.

Cream cheese, capers, red onions + lox, if they've got the nice crispy shell. Were they hard to make?

lyra (lyra), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 07:09 (twenty-three years ago)

(oh no, quick before Emma sees this thread)

cream cheese and roll-mop herrings, num num

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 07:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I have seen it. What do I do now? Chopped herrings are nice too.

Emma, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 07:40 (twenty-three years ago)

hummus and asparagus

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 08:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Lyra: only in that the 15 minutes' kneading makes my feeble girly elbows ache. It's the suffering that makes 'em so delicious.

What exactly is lox? I thought it was just something Dr Seuss had made up.

petra jane (petra jane), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 08:47 (twenty-three years ago)

syrup and sugar.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 08:51 (twenty-three years ago)

lox is salmon that's been salted rather than smoked

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 08:53 (twenty-three years ago)

what Di said mmmmmmmmmmmm!!! (how do you make bagels i DEMAND to have the recipe!)

katie (katie), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 12:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I rather like hummus on bagels. It's not really traditional, but I think it's on its way to being traditional.

(Now you're making me wish I had bought the wonderful bagel I just saw at the bakery rather than my man-eating almond croissant.)

DeRayMi, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 13:11 (twenty-three years ago)
