I was always told it had to be Pepsi or nothing, so that's the way I did it even though I was a Coke guy. But really, whichever -- RC Cola is probably the best.

can you get glass bottles of rc cola? the glass bottle seems like a must.

i'm in georgia so there was no way we were doing it any way but w/ coke but pepsi does make sense, it is sweeter. god i haven't done this in forever. probably since coke bottles were those big glass things w/ the styrofoam label you'd peel off.

i'm gonna have some boiled peanuts and wash them down with a peanuts-and-coke.

Eat em as you go, leave a swallow of coke (warmish, flat, salty/sweet, sounds gross but it's definitely not) for the end to wash down the last mouthful of peanuts.

there was this bait shop in town that reliably had boiled peanuts but i swear i think they sometimes they used water from the bait tanks cuz sometimes those peanuts tasted odd

boiled peanuts aren't really a thing where i am but there's a place here called nook that serves them as a complimentary snack before the meal.

Gonna try this now. As far as I'm aware they rarely sell glass bottles of Coke in the UK so I'm going take the less purist measure of tipping a can of Coke into a glass jar filled with dry roasted peanuts. Will report back.

Peanuts in coke were def a thing with certain v. Southern ladies when I lived in Alabama. The same ladies that would "take a powder" for a headache, probably with peanuts in coke.

I remember reading some short story or children's novel or something where a character did this and I was just perplexed. I was fixated on it for years and years and sometimes I'd think about doing it. I can't imagine the end result is anything but salty/flat/greasy coke and slimy peanuts (goobery goobers).

trying this now: mexican coke in a glass bottle, honey roasted peanuts (which was all they had in a small bag).

This seems like the perfect airline gambit, if you'd accept a plastic cup as a bottle substitute

Yeah, one of my uncles was a big fan of Oly with a good shake of salt in the bottle. That sounds gross to me, but who knows -- I've never tried it.

i want to do this again. just had some salted pretzels with my coke zero and remembered how good the cokey-salty combo is.
