of course there is really no way of knowing if this is true, but if psychic distress and malevolent mental energy is passed along to the collective unconscious then its pretty safe to say that these guys are responsible for some of the inner anguish of our species. it could be that they are an integral part of some cosmic plan however. that we actually need them to balance the levels of good and evil in the world. and like the butterfly flapping its wings and creating the tidal wave, etc, etc, their removal from the world might actually have catastophic consequences! but i doubt it. and i swear to god if i see geraldo's demented face one more time i'm gonna scream.

dictators, homicidal warlords, etc, obvious examples. maybe you can think of some less obvious ones.

i am not advocating violence. but some people are dangerous! i think glenn beck is dangerous in an insidious and banal way. the banality of evil indeed! glenn beck as a politican would be exactly what all those it can't happen here/elmer gantry/a face in the crowd scenarios warn against. in my opinion. you gotta watch that guy...

i mean they just make more of these people so if those specific examples went away tomorrow maybe it wouldn't really matter much. but it might matter for, like, a day or two! and that's something.

Well on the one hand yeah but on the other imagine the uptick in QAnon bullshit theories and attendant violence, would prefer if he got voted out and died alone and disgraced.

openly rooting for someone's death won't make them any more likely to actually die but will make me look hateful and vengeful. i am, of course, but i'm ashamed of that and prefer to pretend i'm not.

Trump's demise wouldn't make the Republican Party suddenly good of course, but as it is right now it's a cult of personality. removing the personality couldn't hurt (not that he wouldn't still be inexplicably lionized after his death, but I also can't see even today's GOP running an actual dead guy in an election).

i think a lot of the problems the democrats are having is this dream a lot of them have that once trump's rasputin-like grip over the country is gone, the spell will be broken and everything will go back to normal. it doesn't seem likely to me? but i'm not in the business of predicting the future.

Right, the scenario doesn't matter as much as the circumstances which, in terms of my preference, absolutely must be via natural causes. Now some could argue that, say, a troop of fire ants tearing their way through someone's urethra in order to slowly consume their victim from the inside is technically 'natural' and who am I to argue with that interpretation, really.
