charles was like 18 or 19--however old dudes in jersey were supposed to be when they went to college in the 80s.
i don't think there was any reason to believe charles secretly owned the house. he was babysitting so he could live there instead of having to live in a dorm room or a dumpster or something. i don't remember any reason to believe that it was a "is higgins really robin masters" scenario--though i'd be *very* open to any such theories.
