Via Wikipedia:

On his appearance on Dinah!, Hemsley performed a dance to the Gentle Giant song "Proclamation" from The Power and the Glory. After his dance, Shore was laughing and asked what kind of music that was. Sherman then proceeded to give a 5-minute speech on Gentle Giant.

There's also the unreleased 1999 album with Jon Anderson...

Hollywood in general has a different code of morality than the rest of society. Being homosexual or lesbian, experimenting, multiple partners, wife swapping, open marriages, all of these lifestyles are common in show business to the point that the people in show biz who think any of these behaviors are not right are basically pressured to stay "in the closet" for fear of their jobs. All of the above sexualities are depicted an awful lot in tv and films and I find it very hard to believe that as many people are living this way and have those types of feelings as are depicted in the movies and tv. I think that more people have relatively conservative monogomous relationships with the opposite sex, but that is considered to be boring by the entertainment media and a lot of them can't relate to that, which is why it isn't shown in popular entertainment as much anymore. There are even some people with low sex drives who live celibate, when was the last time you say a character like that in a sitcom?

Hemsley was 20 years younger than Isabel Sanford, and John Amos was 19 years younger than Esther Rolle.

Dunno about Budgie, but he loved Gong. Searching for that GG song led me to a couple versions of GG's "Knots", which is a fantastic song. Thanks, Sherman.
