I want a good title.

Artwork: design a cover. I'll put different covers on batches of CDs. It'll probably have to be black and white.

Comp: (should be)ready end of October. It'll either be on CD-R or I'll get copies made (anyone know how much getting 200 cds pressed will cost in London?)

Songs: if you really have one to submit in the next two weeks, then it will be okay, after that, sorry.

cor blimey, maybe every copy of the comp will be individually titled at this rate!(or subtitled) (it could be used instead of a numbering system!)

jess and mitch: do you have songs, there was some talk about this a while back.

Also, Mike Hanle y I want to put one of your songs on the CD!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

we invented the radio edit

mitch lastnamewithheld, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 17:43 (twenty-three years ago)

also, Momus, I want a song from you!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 17:44 (twenty-three years ago)

(NB not fiona-esqu lp title but actual post:) oh yeah songs uhm well i just found out a couple days ago that using the university recording studio is an impossibility (at least until next year argh) so that idea fell through. BUT i do have to cobble something together for a new project due the end of september, so i'm working on that right now. and i'll let you know when it's done, if i miss the end of the month deadline then so be it, i think i've already messed ya around too long concerning my possible contribution

mitch lastnamewithheld, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 17:48 (twenty-three years ago)

i think we should call it:
"FAPtastic" (sounds like a Wham! album title doesn't it?)
"indie rock is like high school all over again, except the football team is the guys from ILX showing off how cool they are".
failing these i like "do not listen if you hate us" and "what is music? (and can we eat it)?"

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:14 (twenty-three years ago)

clearly it should be:

Sam (chirombo), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 07:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Jel : Did my NEW track turn up? You should've got it a week ago? Cheers!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 07:47 (twenty-three years ago)

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 07:48 (twenty-three years ago)

nope Dr C, I was meaning to ask about that. Nothing has arrived yet! If it's not here by the end of the week, I'll let you know.

"la fin du temps: it's this thing"

hey jess if you were making fun of me there that's okay cos i figure you'll just be twice as nice to nancy b or something but yeah i admit it must have been weird when i went on about marcel earlier this year. it's just that the experience of reading him was really something. at a secluded liberal arts college campus somewhere in new england, almost... but not quite lost in snow, you could have really shown them something! or maybe you still will. or maybe i'm self-conscious.

youn, Saturday, 21 September 2002 01:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Title of my piece:

"Guitar-Prism: a) Secrets Shatter"

i.e. "Secrets Shatter", the first movement of Guitar-Prism, is the piece I submitted.

sundar subramanian, Saturday, 28 September 2002 15:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes I realize this is a bloody awful name that sounds like a Danielle Steele novel

sundar subramanian, Saturday, 28 September 2002 15:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Would you describe it as a 'soundscape', Sundar?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 28 September 2002 15:57 (twenty-three years ago)

It might be more of a "tone-poem," Martin.

I've decided the best name would be "New Answers."

nabisco (nabisco), Saturday, 28 September 2002 19:08 (twenty-three years ago)

exhibitions? no! inhibitions? yes!

david h (david h), Saturday, 28 September 2002 19:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Lycos decided to work now so the email with the url is there for ya jel

vic (vicc13), Saturday, 28 September 2002 22:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know if I'm being joshed or not but you can hear the track here.

sundar subramanian, Monday, 30 September 2002 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

It was joshing, Sundar. I bought 45 new CDs today, so I don't have time, but I shall look forward to hearing the ILX CD.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 30 September 2002 19:08 (twenty-three years ago)

In that case the answer is "No, but I'd describe your mother as a 'whore'".

sundar subramanian, Tuesday, 1 October 2002 17:24 (twenty-three years ago)

This seems to me to be an entirely different flavour of joshing...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 19:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Chickenbears Ripped My Flesh

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 10 October 2002 06:42 (twenty-three years ago)

sundar you'll know when you're being joshed

Josh (Josh), Thursday, 10 October 2002 06:52 (twenty-three years ago)

How's this going Jel? Are you close to mastering/copying etc?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 14 October 2002 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)

i had the same in mind

vic (vicc13), Monday, 14 October 2002 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, close to making the CD's. I'll probably have some for November FAP.

As for mastering, I'm not sure how to do this (spent ages trying to finger out cool edit!). So, it may have more of a rough and ready feel.

And it will defo be on CD-R.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 14 October 2002 16:06 (twenty-three years ago)

three months pass...
I can't find a thread where people originally responded to the ilx comp.

I only just got my copy and am slowly working through it.

Hey, people -- respond, again!

the pinefox, Wednesday, 22 January 2003 18:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I've heard half of the tracks (I just picked the ones made by ILXORS that I knew, i don't know which ILXOR is in the 1/2's, for instance). The only response is one of amazement: ''hey, these ppl make music and I talk to some of them on the same internet board'' type thing.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 23 January 2003 10:08 (twenty-three years ago)

nineteen years pass...

link?

| (Latham Green), Wednesday, 19 October 2022 02:07 (three years ago)

Maybe someone could put it on SoundCloud or something. Or maybe it is? Still have my CDR copies of the first three.
