Lurking

I've been reading ILX for well over a year now, only posting around 30 times. Anyone else in this sad little rowing boat?

Well if you were ,then you wouldn't reply I guess, seeing as you're more comfortable lurking than posting.

See why I never post?

kinski (kinski), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 19:34 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, I like it when we have delurk threads! Come on y'all delurk!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 19:37 (twenty-three years ago)

heh to think I was a moderator once

DG (D_To_The_G), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 19:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I almost never post. I'm going on a blind date tonite by the way. I'm going to order the duck.

See why I never post?

lawrence kansas, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 19:44 (twenty-three years ago)

you seem to post quite a bit lawrence!

hello DG!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 19:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I spend most of my workday afternoons reading ILM and ILE, I post maybe once or twice a week. I simply rarely feel like I have anything worth saying. Case in point...

Nick A., Tuesday, 17 September 2002 19:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know how often I post come to think of it. Whatever happened to that stats (cock) thingy that lets you know you've been wasting valuable work time?

lawrence kansas, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Users, at the bottom of here, Lawrence.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Accross both boards, of all time:
Lawrence: 34 posts, #698
Kinski: 29 posts, #747

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:16 (twenty-three years ago)

you just want to suck their coolness out with your sucky fake love mouth like the melty juice from so many strawberry otter pops. i need coffee. mwahahahahaha... yesterday i scoured the sale bins at the rekkid shop and picked up some vinyl by the smiths, the lucksmiths, sigur ros, space dust and the butchies for only ten bucks. today, while awake, i imagined myself given the respiratory system requiring green paint as i was simultaneously being drowned in it.
screaming on the inside, when it's silent on the outside. i had a massive argument with ethan about whether beat happening is better than the wedding present. i know it must be endlessly rewarding to develop such a carefully calculated theory about symmetric tracks per side (or STPS as the kids are calling it), but the records sound so much better when you actually take them out of the sleeves and play them once in a while. i know, then it won't be mint anymore, but you could always ebay it! cornflakeboy is hotttttt. mmmmmmmm my insides quiver at the thought of him.

whoops, was talking with ben on the phone for like an hour instead of sleeping! i guess i better go study for my english exam! besides, everyone knows you're not really a hermaphrodite -- the butcher's daughter told us so while we counted polliwogs down at the pond!

indykid (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:17 (twenty-three years ago)

wow, 22nd overall. i'm surprised.

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:25 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm 12th. i didn't realise i posted so much.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:31 (twenty-three years ago)

16 th on ILE and 5th on ILM! I seem to know a bit more abt music than on everything.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Me! Me! I'm the king of this thread. I've posted on ILM maybe two or three times, but never here. Yet I read about all of you folks every day! Now I read ILE more than ILM. I'm not sure how long I've been doing it, but I get most of the in-jokes and have little arguments in my head with many of you.

I love you all, and want to argue with you for real, but am scared that once I enter into the world of actual interactivity, the whole thing will be even more horribly, time-suckingly procrastinatory than it is already.

Aloha.

Marcel Post, Wednesday, 18 September 2002 00:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Even though I often stop posting for months at a stretch, in the show all messages bit I'm stunned to still be in there at 39. Clearly you lurkers need to start picking up the slack! Post more better. Better post more. But post better more - not necessarily. Pay attention people - this is what happens when you forget to sleep.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 01:26 (twenty-three years ago)

haha marcel you're a very smart person

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 01:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I posted a Lurkers Only thread... or instigated one. I can't remember. Now I feel as though I have become a semi-lurkah myself. Harumph. :-(

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 06:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Marcel is the smartest bloke i've evah 'met'.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 09:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, Marcel's may well be the course of wisdom. Even more wise might be not even reading all this bollocks we spout. I have never been good at keeping my mouth shut.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:22 (twenty-three years ago)

are you s'posed to introduce yourself? i lurked for months, but because i'm shy i decided to just slip a few posts in now and again and hoped that i could infiltrate virally. now i've even started one or two threads on ilm and post regularly. am i being rude?

michael wells (michael w.), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:28 (twenty-three years ago)

you don't have to introduce yourself. i like the threads where people introduce themselves and everyone goes 'yay' and they never post again. i think it's better actually to just gradually diffuse yourself into the chatter - its great when people say oh im new or im a lurker and i totally recognise their name and have already formed some sort of opinion on them!

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:30 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm an ex-lurker turned occasional poster. hello. i even feature on a previous lurker thread. awesome talent.

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:31 (twenty-three years ago)

i've posted a few times in the last while, but still feel very new here.

angela (angela), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm a lurker.

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Wahoo! I'm sixth over all!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't want you being sixth over me.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

hopkins-joke (the beaten-by-a-whiskah remix): "i shall potht and potht until i am sixth"

violet elizabeth statscock (mark s), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 12:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh no, you form opinions?? ;)

michael wells (michael w.), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 12:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, but it's not necessarily based on what you write, so you can't do anything about them.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 17:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Been lurking for a year, posting occasionally (though surely less than kinski?). It’s like watching a crowded dance floor: I enjoy the spectacle but don’t necessarily feel a need to join in.

Rex, Wednesday, 18 September 2002 18:16 (twenty-three years ago)

tom is otm!

yeah, martin is right the secret (well not so secret) to sixth place is posts like this one.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 18:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Rex: 34 posts, #690

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 19:06 (twenty-three years ago)

i just dont have the restraint to be a lurker, too much to say even if it is total shyte.

donna (donna), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 21:39 (twenty-three years ago)

i've posted maybe a dozen times. hi.

thom west (thom w), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 21:42 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm like #4 or something on ilm! this is very odd...

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 21:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Jess, stop posting so much on ILM & go write more about the 2000/2001 mixtapes!
