Mushrooms for dinner. A letter from my brother.

isadora, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:30 (twenty-three years ago)

got a new credit card, then racked up 2 grand of debt in the first day by buying a dvd player and 150 dvd's. like all the best pleasures, I'll pay for it later.

Michael Williams, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Played lots of old disco (Oops Upside Your Head is irresistible). Completed some tasks more quickly than expected at work. Hung out on ILE. Some instant-messaging chat with a new possible-girlfriend. A Simpsons on TV I'd only seen once before. Some lovely football in the Arsenal game. Actually, I seem to be happy a lot lately, which is unusual for me.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 20:56 (twenty-three years ago)

God, I love how "a Simpsons episode I've only seen [x] times" becomes a near-pleasure after a while. "Oh, how exciting, I can only quote twelve minutes of this one word-for-word in real time!"

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 21:08 (twenty-three years ago)

et some toast. petted my kitty cat. that's all so far.

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 21:10 (twenty-three years ago)

I completed essays on time, my computer didn't decide to fuck up printing just before the post went, and I was able to SLEEP for the first time in days.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 21:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Eat lots of biscuits. Yummy.

Shaz, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 21:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Saw kids, playing in the sunshine, on my way to work. Ordinarily this wouldn't give me much pleasure. But yesterday morning, same time, same place, it was grey, cloudy, and I saw a homeless man in a wheelchair masturbating on the street.

So it's all relative to me now.

nory (nory), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 21:20 (twenty-three years ago)

petted my kitty cat.

Another one for the euphemism thread!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 21:48 (twenty-three years ago)

yes dan it means "injected heroin".

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 21:56 (twenty-three years ago)

went out for a drink. forgot my problems for a while...

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 21:59 (twenty-three years ago)

sadness-tinged pleasure, i decommissioned my old computer and transferred the final files over to the new one

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 22:13 (twenty-three years ago)

i had a shower.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 22:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I woke up late and had a cup of tea and a cigarette. I'm about to repeat this feat, w/a Monkees record on. I have to get a bus into town in 25 minutes, unpleasurable again.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 22:57 (twenty-three years ago)

watched a 2 year old fawn over his newborn sister.

drank cold coffee.

played the new neko case.

mike (ro)bott, Tuesday, 17 September 2002 23:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Nory--do you live on my street?

I "connected" with one of my students...

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 23:40 (twenty-three years ago)

drank tea in english class. spent a long time on the swingset. read fluff fantasy about sexy elves.

Maria (Maria), Tuesday, 17 September 2002 23:45 (twenty-three years ago)

scrubbed sinks. the sinks are metal, and were getting rust-stained, and the rust comes off real easy if you scrub, and it was the coolest thing. scrubbing is the best cleaning.

Brian Mowrey (Brian Mowrey), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 00:02 (twenty-three years ago)

made tacos

James Blount (James Blount), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 00:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I want Maria's life.

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 00:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Heard "Totally Wired", "Little Fluffy Clouds", "California Love", "Rrroll The Beats", "Cocaine Socialism", "Papua New Guinea", "Cannonball" & "roygbiv" for the first time. Wow, this filesharing business is k-radz0r.
also : practicing my Richard D James rictus grin in the mirror & dancing around the living room.

Ess Kay (esskay), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 00:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Ate Mexican food. Read ILE and made some posts.

j.lu (j.lu), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 01:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Mary--Did you see the homeless/wheelchair/masturbating man, too (he was near the W. 4th subway)?

nory (nory), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 01:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I turned in my pants to the drycleaners. I made an offer to an agent. I danced in my room to drum and bass. I ate a donut and a Coolatta from Dunkin' Donuts. I ate a good tuna fish sandwich.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 03:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Successfully repaired the door to my computer cabinet, an act which required brute force and finesse. Had a not-at-all-serious argument with my wife about feng sui.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 06:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh well yesterday I had a job interview and ate some nummy prawn poori and named my meerkat!

Today I have done nothing pleasurable so far. My clothes are dirty and stinky my hair is mingy and I haf a sore head/nose/throat waaaaah. And even the food in the canteen today is a bit rub. Bah I am off for a lemsip.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 08:39 (twenty-three years ago)

yesterday: had first proper dinner in new house, and afterwards sat on the sofa with boyfriend drinking wine and listening to (and at times singing along with and dancing to) "69 love songs" from start to finish.

angela (angela), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 08:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a sore throat, and no money, but I wiull probably finish GTA3 later, which will give me enormous pleasure.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 08:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh MAN! That will be my plan for tonight! Yay, GTA3 from the video shop!! And hot whisky and curry!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 09:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Greatest pleasure of the day so far was a shower. Showers are the only thing that feel better when you're hungover.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 09:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I actually went to a meeting at work today, I almsot feel useful.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 09:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Went to see Mullholland Dr, then went to the food court and drank bubble tea and hung out in Galaxy for an hour without buying anything.

Livvie, Wednesday, 18 September 2002 09:43 (twenty-three years ago)

mmm i ate a lovey organic english apple which was very tasty. also i have discovered a new patti smith song which makes me very happy - it sounds like bouncy throwing muses! still, i would be much happier if i did not have THE POX.

katie (katie), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 10:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I developed a cold yesterday evening and this morning I woke to the blissful feeling of my bunged-up left nostril clearing, however soon afterwards the right one blocked and then now they've swapped again with the whole pleasure/bunged thing as well.

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 10:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Woke up to find an incredibly cute naked boy wrapped around me. Shagged him. Went back to sleep. I love my life.

kate, Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:01 (twenty-three years ago)

World's campest dentist marked my teeth A*! Tidy office.

Ellie (Ellie), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:09 (twenty-three years ago)

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Found the Avalanches album and listened to Live at Dominoes over and over and over and over, beautiful.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 11:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Found dirt-cheap 7" of The Chicks doing 'River Deep Mountain High', saw Fassbinder's 'Nora Helmer', got a ride home w an old friend who threatened/promised a Big Star mixtape, et avocado on toast, improved Ability on RockStarGame by almost 20 points. Not bad for a Wednesday.

petra jane (petra jane), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 21:53 (twenty-three years ago)

still sick and i still feel like the walking wounded.

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 21:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Today, not much pleasure per se -- although I do feel better than yesterday! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 22:05 (twenty-three years ago)

you don't wanna know

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 23:01 (twenty-three years ago)

drank tea and ate ramen noodles and blew my nose loudly. the best thing to do when mildly sick is feel sorry for yourself (but not too loudly, of course), it makes you feel SO much better.

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 23:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Managed to be all hyper-chirpy/self-promotional/etc on the phone in response to a job ad. Made lots of progress on "Empire of the Senseless". Watched Zoids! Ate a tamarillo!

Ess Kay (esskay), Wednesday, 18 September 2002 23:10 (twenty-three years ago)

yelled back at a lady at the train station who yelled at me for no reason. this gave me pleasure mostly because she thought i wasn't going to say anything, and then looked surprised when i did.

also, going to sleep will please me greatly today because i am SO TIRED.

sand.y, Wednesday, 18 September 2002 23:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm making a CD for a friend with new Spoon + new Sahara Hotnights + 12 minutes of other songs.

lyra (lyra), Thursday, 19 September 2002 02:29 (twenty-three years ago)

showers are not pleasures to take when you feel, they are basci "at least 2 a day" needs you smelly people in cold water

vic (vicc13), Thursday, 19 September 2002 03:15 (twenty-three years ago)

dear god im the worst speller in the world today. weather i meant and the best think of the day was hearing a verison of "I Will Survive" in spanish at spanish class called "Yo Viviré"

vic (vicc13), Thursday, 19 September 2002 03:17 (twenty-three years ago)

you don't wanna know

Well, now we do.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 September 2002 04:58 (twenty-three years ago)

ran a lot farther and faster than i wanted to. it's worth it when it's over and the endorphins are flowing and your walking it off and swaying involuntarily back and forth in glorious, complete exhaustion.

Aaron A., Thursday, 19 September 2002 05:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Nory--no I missed that particular sight, but doesn't sound like it would be out of place nearer to where I live...LES...

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 19 September 2002 15:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I "connected" with one of my students...

Ooh err!

I fixed bugs. I am so geekhappy right now.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 19 September 2002 15:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I booked flights to Dublin but then people said it would be nice if I got chained to a radiator hmmmm. Nothing else today has gone well and I cannot remember this concept of pleasure. The thought of the meerkat makes me have a weak smile but contentment is not mine. I want endorphins.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 19 September 2002 15:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Moan moan moan moan (haha my pleasure in moaning = your PAIN har har)

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 19 September 2002 15:48 (twenty-three years ago)

The cup of coffee I made myself this morning - while doubtfully as satisfying as kate masonicboom's "breakfast of champions" - you go girl!! - was extra-strong, and thick like velvet. It has set me up for a tough funeral day where "pleasure" is not really the right word for any of it.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 19 September 2002 15:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh I was starting to cheer up and then I just realised all tomorrow will be spent in boring meetings. I think I am going to cut my arms open, endorphin rush AND the morning off tomorrow getting lots of stiches haahahahahaaha I win and also hey, tons of extra goth points!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 19 September 2002 15:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I am looking at a devil duck. That gives pleasure.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 September 2002 16:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Has di been giving herself some good lovin?

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 19 September 2002 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

The fact that today I have properly started on a new career :-)

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 19 September 2002 16:41 (twenty-three years ago)

*cue Japan song*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 September 2002 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

More info, Marcello!!! Sounds good, I hope.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 19 September 2002 17:31 (twenty-three years ago)

As you were, Marcello - I've just visited ILM.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 19 September 2002 19:18 (twenty-three years ago)

walking across cambridge in the sunshine this morning listening to the pixies made me very happy. in particular the way that "where is my mind" came on very, very loudly just as i was nearing the science centre; the drums went through me and i felt about 20ft tall.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 19 September 2002 19:21 (twenty-three years ago)

i ahd a bath.

di smith (lucylurex), Friday, 20 September 2002 01:28 (twenty-three years ago)

listened to a CDR i made with Life Without Buildings "Love Trinity" on it which makes me happy

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 20 September 2002 01:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Cheap drinks and free hot dogs!

rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 20 September 2002 02:22 (twenty-three years ago)

I "connected" with one of my students...

I realized this sounded sleazy after I posted, but never fear... me would never take advantage of the age differential to further my own means... hahaha...
