Hackintosh

Just wondering if anyone else here has a hackintosh -- a PC hacked to dual-boot Windows and Mac systems. I started this a few years ago for work purposes (needed FCP). It's a huge pain to pull this off but it can be done.

Anyways, this can be a thread for questions, geeky boasts, tips, etc.

Death to all Kernel Panics

I have a Dell with Windows 7 64-bit and OSX 10.6, though after buying a new USB wireless stick and apparently bungling the kext installation, my machine will not start due to a Kernel Panic. I'm going to try running it in VMWare from within Windows 7. I think it will handle FCP 7.1 as good, if not better, than a dual-boot setup.

The first time i did this, I must have downloaded 6 or 7 different distro's before i stumbled onto one that worked, which was iPC OSX86 10.5.6. I don't remember anything about the process other than having to inch my way to a desktop, then to get video, internet, and sound recognized. That was a few years ago. After I upgraded my video card, QuartzExtreme and QuartzGL went unrecognized and I was unable to find a driver for that install, so my computer was basically useless, as FCP can't run without it. Installing an upgraded OSX fixed the video, but the audio was now not showing up! Ah, but for a while i hacked my way around that with a USB plug-in speaker out.
