Yes, I read about the unlikelihood of this. Therefore I never reply to the letters from the hospital; Not that I did before. lol. My mom had cancer twice (breast cancer and nonhodgkin). I don't think she even does it (in Japan, where she lives). I once had a scan cause I thought I had lumps (I am a hypochondriac) but the doctor said I had nothing to worry about and that my mom probably didn't have cancer. (Something about overdiagnosing way back in the 70s/80s.) ANYWAY my mom told me that it was rather painful, a mammogram, as they used to squeeze the breast inside/ Or something.
