i always had a soft spot for de niro in cape fear.

Pacino in Heat FTW.

Though Ricky Roma is very tempting as well.

Pacino in Heat is nearly unwatchable imo; he's better playing a variant on the same guy in The Insider.

Ricky Roma or the bits of Richard in Richard III for him, Goodfellas and Jackie Brown for Bobby D.

Many of these are better than every performance in the '00s list.

Goodfellas or Jackie Brown, depending on what I'd rather watch at the moment. (For the past couple of years, Jackie Brown--I've worn out Goodfellas.) After that, Heat, Casino, and Donnie Brasco. The Insider bores me; not as big on Glengarry as most, but it's okay; ditto Carlito's Way.

Surprised by how many of these I saw on release--I'd still get out to the theatre to see stuff like Cop Land and Mad Dog and Glory. Lifetime Histrionics Awards to Godfather III and Cape Fear.

Bill Murray in Mad Dog is one of his underrated good performances.

caruso's great in mad dog also, back when he was still an actor.

i'd like to see that Murray again

John McNaughton's great run of so few films before dropping off the map: "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer," "Mad Dog and Glory" and "Wild Things." He was pretty early on the Bill Murray Actor front, too.

James Foley had a good run, too : At Close Range, Glengarry, Fear. Never heard of Two Bits until today (with Pacino as "Grandpa").

Love Pacino in Donnie Brasco. He's so seedy and desperate - that scene where he puts his wedding ring in the drawer before going off to be whacked kills me.

Also great: Goodfellas, Casino, Glengarry Glen Ross, The Insider.

Guilty pleasures for fans of Pacino SHOUTING: Carlito's Way and Devil's Advocate.

Awakenings was one of the first movies I ever got to see at a critics' preview screening - really brought home to me the horrors of regular movie reviewing, having to sit through such shit and not being able to leave or even fall asleep

Jackie Brown is just great, and everyone is great in it.

Even Chris Tucker, though tbf he wasn't in it long enough to annoy me.

Watching a YouTube clip or two from Cape Fear (which I hated when I saw it in the theater, despite great performances and cinematography), I realized that this is as big of a transformation for DeNiro as Pupkin and La Motta.
