This Monday, early evening?

jon (jon), Thursday, 19 September 2002 10:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmmm Monday, an untried day for FAP action. If it's central I can do it but not early.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 19 September 2002 11:01 (twenty-three years ago)

What Tom said, and I'll likely slink away before long because I am a sick man.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 19 September 2002 11:02 (twenty-three years ago)

i think so, i want to celebrate my new house (as i'm doing tonite, tomorrow night, and sunday night)

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 19 September 2002 11:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Are you really allowing an unsteered FAP to go ahead??????

I'm not quite mentalist to come back from Manchester after less than 24 hours there.

Graham (graham), Thursday, 19 September 2002 11:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Well I'm well up for this. I'm meeting my new boss re 'please pay me off I don't want to work for you' that afternoon and will vcery ready for a pint in the evening. The prospect of an an e-blind date such as this (I'm an FAP virgin) will provide a nice silver lining to the day.

Later is fine, as long as I can get a train out of Paddington before the Wiltshire Curfew.

And I'll be on Regent St so anywhere West End would be great. If it were less than 10 minutes walk from the Bakerloo line it would maximise my drinking time. But I'm a fast walker.

jon (jon), Thursday, 19 September 2002 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

great idea. i will be SINGING though, so no, probs not

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 19 September 2002 11:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmm, well you know I frown upon such unsteered events but I might be able to squeeze a couple of beers in next Monday. I think the steering committee should pickj the pub though. But ho - something new?

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 19 September 2002 12:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Steering Commttee? Steered/Unsteered?

There's more to this than I thought... it was just an e-whim, honest.

Well, whoever chooses make it nearish Bakerloo Line (Oxford Circus/Picc Circus) and I'll be there.

What happens next? Do the minutes of the meeting get minuted? Does someone review the minutes of the lsat meeting? Can I doodle while pretending to look intelligently interested?

jon (jon), Thursday, 19 September 2002 12:54 (twenty-three years ago)

i caddot cob i'b afraid cos i've got dis terrible cold!

katie (katie), Thursday, 19 September 2002 13:01 (twenty-three years ago)

mmmm.... somewhere new...

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 19 September 2002 13:02 (twenty-three years ago)

The only pub I know round there is the place we all drink in at work. it's called the Windmill and is on a side road parrallel to Regent St on the W side.

But I'm happy to try somewwhere new (and may not be allowed to make suggestions...)

jon (jon), Thursday, 19 September 2002 13:10 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm on for this, but won't stay late unless there is a tube strike the next day, in which case I shall be taking that day off.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 19 September 2002 16:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Ok everyone, who's going to fix a pub?

I won't have web access on Monday, and would hate to miss out, having made the suggestion.

jon (jon), Friday, 20 September 2002 07:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Never drinking again. My life is a RUIN this morning. I woke up in tights, dress and jacket with handbag still on arm. I feel sick, Never drinking again.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 20 September 2002 09:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Any ideas anyone? Horse and Groom on Great Portland Street? I can't make any claims for its quality because I haven't been there since 1989. But fancyapint.com gives it one pint out of five so it can't be all bad...

http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pub30.htm

I don't know why I'm suggesting Sam Smiths pubs when it doesn't matter to me because I'm tragically off the booze again. Sob.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 20 September 2002 09:26 (twenty-three years ago)

''I feel sick, Never drinking again.''

yes...sure you aren't. a pint of coke for you in future then.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 20 September 2002 09:31 (twenty-three years ago)

My termini are Notting Hill Gate and M.Arch so somewhere on the central line would be best for me.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 20 September 2002 09:35 (twenty-three years ago)

My life is a RUIN this morning.>

ditto, and its the braindance brockup tonite. oh, why do i do it?

gareth (gareth), Friday, 20 September 2002 09:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Central Line and Bakerloo Line? Sounds like Oxford Circus:

http://www.fancyapint.com/tube/stations/T196.htm

Tim (Tim), Friday, 20 September 2002 10:03 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah i'm in

mark s (mark s), Friday, 20 September 2002 10:06 (twenty-three years ago)

OK Mark why don't we make Monday our meet-up...especially as I think celebrations are in order heh :-) don't forget to bring the NLRs!

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 20 September 2002 11:15 (twenty-three years ago)

OK Marcello good idea.

mark s (mark s), Friday, 20 September 2002 11:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Tim's link says to me:

Ship is good, a little far

Dover Castle looks GREAT - is it hard to find?

Windmill is good too - I know it though, on the other hand you don't

Argyll Arms easy peasy to find and meet at, bar probably unreachable. No fun.

Someone plump for one? How do I recognise you good people?

jon (jon), Friday, 20 September 2002 11:27 (twenty-three years ago)

ILXers are easy to spot, trust your senses.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 20 September 2002 11:28 (twenty-three years ago)

esp smell

mark s (mark s), Friday, 20 September 2002 11:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I suspect the Dover Castle may be a little small for a FAP, but that's always my worry and it's never that much of a problem.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 20 September 2002 11:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm off until Monday now, so I look forward to seeing the venue as chosen by t'Committee.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 20 September 2002 11:51 (twenty-three years ago)

sorry can't do it as I'm having time off (so the last thing to do would be to go to London, even if it is to mett you all). but from monday 30th I'm back so practically any weekday evening from then would be good.

anyway, have fun!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 20 September 2002 12:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm off too - but Tim H has kindly emailed me a contact phone number so if I don't get to the web I can still find all of you.

jon (jon), Friday, 20 September 2002 14:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I say the WIndmill. What does everyone else say?

Pete (Pete), Friday, 20 September 2002 14:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Hic!

Sarah (starry), Friday, 20 September 2002 14:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I say let's settle on one, and I'm perfectly happy with The Windmill. I'll be there pretty early, but as the link says it is patronised by office workers and I will be in a suit and tie, it might not be ideal for Jon to try to spot me. There is a pic on my profile here, though, if that helps.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 20 September 2002 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm reviving this so we don't lose it. Are we all okay with the Windmill?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 21 September 2002 18:22 (twenty-three years ago)

fine by me. Pic noted. some say 'can't do early', some say 'cant do late'. I guess even 'early' in London is not very early - is 6/6.30ish a good place to start?

jon (jon), Sunday, 22 September 2002 07:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Looks like I might be on for his now. Late-ish doors for me 7.30/8.00 ish. Looking forward to it!!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Sunday, 22 September 2002 09:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll be there around six, Jon.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 22 September 2002 11:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm possible a sevenish man. I have to introduce a screening of The Royal Tenebaums first. I shall be using the line "Mark S laughed non-stop and so di Dr Vick". Poor overseas students.

Pete (Pete), Sunday, 22 September 2002 12:54 (twenty-three years ago)

I laughed lots too Pete, if you want to build a long list of people who liked it. And relatively new poster hereabouts Tim Bateman has a sister very like Margot! (Not adopted, however.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 22 September 2002 13:52 (twenty-three years ago)

larfed if u please

w.a nozzle

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 22 September 2002 22:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I stand corrected. LArfed (what good thgis is going to do to the international students linguistic skillZor I know not but...)

Pete (Pete), Monday, 23 September 2002 08:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Boss is not in today so I can escape in time for the full revelry I hope.

And my meeting tomorrow has been cancelled so I can have a hangover without fear.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 23 September 2002 08:45 (twenty-three years ago)

so, is it the windmill then? i have decided i can make it, so i shall be there sometimes around 8.05

gareth (gareth), Monday, 23 September 2002 14:23 (twenty-three years ago)

that's where i'm going

mark s (mark s), Monday, 23 September 2002 14:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Did I mention I'm gagging for ale?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 23 September 2002 14:29 (twenty-three years ago)

GO GO GO GO GO

Tom (Groke), Monday, 23 September 2002 14:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Gagging for ALE?? Dr C actually = DOMINATOR C doesn't it??? DOESN'T IT???

Whips gags and CHAINS no doubt.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 23 September 2002 14:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes pls.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 23 September 2002 15:01 (twenty-three years ago)

katie (katie), Monday, 23 September 2002 15:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh cool, yes do inform of location and I shall be there :)

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 5 November 2019 11:24 (five years ago)

I will be at the mtn gts show on the 15th!!

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Tuesday, 5 November 2019 16:53 (five years ago)

So what’s the plan then? When are you free ET?

I'm going to be at The Raincoats gig on the 10th, but have most other nights (8, 9, 11) free. Heading up north after that and won't be back in London until the 21st.

Elvis Telecom, Tuesday, 5 November 2019 20:48 (five years ago)

Actually could do any of those though 8th is best

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 5 November 2019 21:47 (five years ago)

There's a pretty good chance I'm going to go to this Graham Duff and Adam Curtis talk on the 8th. Perhaps the 9th?

Elvis Telecom, Wednesday, 6 November 2019 02:40 (five years ago)

any ideas for a good geetaFAP locale this friday?

(large-ish rather than small, centralish rather than hackneyside)

mark s, Tuesday, 12 November 2019 14:10 (five years ago)

*takes out year-long hourglass, turns it over*

Andrew Farrell, Tuesday, 12 November 2019 14:34 (five years ago)

Lexington obvs!

santa clause four (suzy), Tuesday, 12 November 2019 15:35 (five years ago)

geeta has opted for the racketeer nr kings X, from 6

mark s, Tuesday, 12 November 2019 20:38 (five years ago)

Racketeer is a good choice. I have never been to a FAP but aspire to do so within my earthly existence.

britain's secret sauce (seandalai), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 05:46 (five years ago)

See you then!!

(Elvis - sorry I couldn't get to arrange anything, weekend filled up with duty all of a sudden)

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 13 November 2019 07:30 (five years ago)

I'm going to try to make it to the Racketeer in between engagements this evening, I'm not sure whether it will be possible.

Anyone fancying a hang-out on Sunday afternoon might note that we're convening a rare Hangover Lounge on Sunday at the Pembury Tavern in Hackney, all welcome, no action expected apart from some ale soaked relaxing.

Tim, Friday, 15 November 2019 10:17 (five years ago)

bit of a step for me

mark s, Friday, 15 November 2019 11:39 (five years ago)

Yes, I'm going to a birthday thing for someone in the work tonight - also in Kings Cross, coincidentally - so unlikely to show.

'Skills' Wallace (Tom D.), Friday, 15 November 2019 12:09 (five years ago)

Another US ilxor is in London tonight, playing a virtually sold-out Shepherd's Bush Empire lol

I am working until evening and unlikely to show for anything :( unless really persuaded. & tt is seeing Dashboard Confessional ffs

imago, Friday, 15 November 2019 12:36 (five years ago)

COME ON PEOPLE

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 15 November 2019 13:17 (five years ago)

to be clear i'm coming to this as shd everyone, my joke abt the distance to the pembury may have landed wrong

mark s, Friday, 15 November 2019 13:20 (five years ago)

OK! See all you tankies, trots and lefty scum later!

santa clause four (suzy), Friday, 15 November 2019 13:23 (five years ago)

mark s, Friday, 15 November 2019 13:25 (five years ago)

This additional US ILXOR will be seeing aforementioned other US ILXOR at said gig and is super excited tho sad to miss FAP.

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Friday, 15 November 2019 18:11 (five years ago)

"I'm going to try to make it to the Racketeer in between engagements this evening, I'm not sure whether it will be possible."

Try hard. We're building socialism here.

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Thursday, 12 December 2019 21:01 (five years ago)

Black Eye Friday

koogs, Friday, 20 December 2019 13:27 (five years ago)

if it's just me and thee, comrade, then i'd suggest Herne Hill, as it's likely to be a bit quieter. i've got a final meeting now, which I'm going to do down the pub, and then i'll be winging my way central/Herne Hill-wards, for about four.

Fizzles, Friday, 20 December 2019 13:42 (five years ago)

👍

xyzzzz__, Friday, 20 December 2019 13:48 (five years ago)

the pinefox, Friday, 20 December 2019 14:06 (five years ago)

oh not really, i just fancied an early doors post work pre christmas pint and was angling to see who was around! i don’t want to be out all evening, especially after the christmas party last night. i feel slightly dire.

Fizzles, Friday, 20 December 2019 15:04 (five years ago)

mark s, Thursday, 6 February 2020 16:11 (five years ago)

We're doing a little launch for the Mary Butts book I've done (and which some of you have seen) - it's a week today, Thursday 27th at the bookartsbookshop from 6.30 to 8 or so, likely pub after. It'd be lovely to see all or any of you.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B8szLA8nXGV/

Details of the project: https://thehalfpintpress.wordpress.com/imaginary-letters-by-mary-butts/ - this will be on show in the windows of the bookshop for most of March if you're passing and want a look.

Tim, Thursday, 20 February 2020 09:35 (five years ago)

Bah, I think I'm booked on the day, but I pass by it all the time next to the Kieran Doherty mural on my way home, so I'll be sure to come by.

Andrew Farrell, Friday, 21 February 2020 11:50 (five years ago)
