i am hoping to wire up the house so that different rooms can all watch telly or playstation or whatever.. but really no idea whether a simple splitter etc would work like it would with a/v cables.. also doesn't seem to be any digital solutions like broadcast over lan??? because the throughput is too great?? i dunno.. any experts here?

HDMI over CAT6 wall plates? pricey but i think that's the best/nicest way of doing things...

I wonder if these can be plugged over a wireless LAN bridge....

ideally what i want to do is to be able to use the playstation using any monitors/TVs in the house (there's only 3 rooms!) then i can also use that as a hub to stream stuff (e.g. netflix, videos on the network etc) and the wireless playstation controllers will be at each room as remote control.

but if it's going to cost a lot of money it may become cheaper to just get another PS3!!

just run the cables as you normally would. the only reason these boxes exist is because hdmi cable is so thick and expensive, you should be fine as long as your 3 rooms aren't 100m apart

could any viable solution be worked out using homeplugs or am i embarrassing myself by suggesting it

hotels have a verrry expensive box that lets you turn things into a broadcast signal that can run over regular coax, but if you're fine with pre HD resolution, you could probably do it with an old VCR.
basically plug PS3 into VCR aux inputs, then plug VCR in between cable box and the coax wiring, and every TV in house tuned to channel 3 should see the VCR, etc...

May be worth just buying Smart TVs and streaming from network attached storage.

that might just work! seems cheaper than a 50ft hdmi cable
