Quick! I need a fake name and fake title and description of a fake video installation i am setting up in my store! (preferably related to Canada)

there is an experimental video festival today and tomorrow in my town and ALL the artists are canadian.

i am setting up a television in the front window of my store and i will be playing old t.v. movies with the sound down. (found a great 12-movie dvd pack with some awesome stuff on it. including one where sally field plays a hippie turned on to drugs.)

i'm gonna print up a sheet and put it on the table and i would like it to have a fake artist's name and a fake title and an incomprehensible artist's statement for everyone to read.

i'm going to pretend its part of the festival. (the videos in the festival are being viewed in buildings all over town.)

i'd like the artist's statement to include something about the french and hockey and tim horton if possible. and the diaspora. and corporate crime. or something.

can you help a brother out? i have to clean the store all day. having music tonight. come down if you are around. bob fay/bunwinkies/bunnybrains.

sorry I didn't read the topics you wanted in the statement...

"The hermeneutics of the modern media landscape enforce the institutional control of our shared global culture, insuring the Plutocratic gaze is the viewfinder we all see our lives through. In this world where corporate crime is rewarded by million dollar contracts, one can buy a new clean soul at Tim Hortons for a loonie and a signature on an NDA."

And to elaborate: Gordon "Gord" MacGordon

nickn, Friday, 12 October 2012 17:52 (twelve years ago)

"Deux Levers - McGordan, the 42-year-old adulte terrible of the Edmontonian scene, intends here to represent the bully-off from which we are all locked-out, both electorally and electrically. Though numerous challenges are evident in the grain, the title hints at a hope that happens twice, first as sit-com, then as art."

The Idea of Tim Hortons
Inspired by Glen Gould's The Idea of North, Gordy McGordon composes a soundscape of Tim Horton patrons punctuated visually by stock footage Gordie Howe eating poutine at two frames per second.

Philip Nunez, Friday, 12 October 2012 19:14 (twelve years ago)

i wish i had that! i was actually hoping i could find some nhl highlight reels at the thrift store this morning, but no luck...

"Bully off" is not a Canadian expression. You have to say "face-off" otherwise the game's up.

everything, Friday, 12 October 2012 20:05 (twelve years ago)

okay i'll change it.

scott seward, Friday, 12 October 2012 20:17 (twelve years ago)

A woman I know recently showed me this experimental movie she shot 30 years ago around Commercial Drive in Vancouver. It's pretty classic.

thanks to everyone here!

a pic of my brother and bob fay. old tour buddies! when bob was in sebadoh - and they were at the height of their sub pop fame - they took bunnybrains out with them on a bunch of dates as openers. i have always felt this was one of the more generous gestures of the grunge era.
