Just watched mean girls, which confirms this.

Seconded. I wish his career reflected that.

Yeah feel like no one has really known what I do with him, including, often, snl

SNL usually has a spot I like to call the utility ethnic, a castmember who gets a certain guaranteed position in sketches when they call for someone ethnic, but usually as the straight man. It's not a terrible fate to be the utility ethnic because you'll probably end up being on the show quite a bit, but they'll never give you the meaty roles. You could probably make a concerted effort not to get in this spot, but I feel Tim made his choice.

thirded - dude TOTALLY stole the show w/ the 'you don't want any part of this shit' drug scenes in Walk Hard.

I saw Tim Meadows and Chris Farley at Second City the years before they ended up on SNL and they were far and away the funniest people on stage, to the point where I as a 17-year-old made a point of remembering their names so I could follow their careers.

Oh whoa, ellen cleghorne -- an even more underutilized talent. Just looked her up on wiki and found this kind of lol mostly sad tidbit:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellen_CleghorneCleghorne was mentioned on a segment of the Family Guy DVD Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, when Stewie asks if "they ever found a successful vehicle for Ellen Cleghorne." Seth Mcfarlane has said that she was so offended she called the studio and yelled at an animator who answered the phone.

I used to love the Perspectives bit, which doesn't seem to be on youtube. I also loved when he played black celebrities where it was obvious that the ONLY reason for the casting choice was that he was the black guy on the show -- I might have been reading into it, but I always detected this slight smirking irony in his performance when he had to do this, and it would crack me up.
― michael bolton's reckless daughter (Hurting 2), Monday, 15 October 2012 16:51 (thirteen years ago)
there was some anecdote on maron's podcast recently about an SNL sketch where the host was asking tim meadows why he looked so depressed, and he says "because this is the only sketch i'm tonight."

^^^ I remember this sketch, it was very lol
― The Owls of Ja Rule (DJP), Monday, 15 October 2012 17:32 (thirteen years ago)
I remember that too. He reminds me of Parnell in that there is something very deadpan about their humor that snl was flummoxed by and didn't know what to do with. Both of them have much funnier away from snl.
― controversial cabaret roommate (Nicole), Monday, 15 October 2012 17:57 (thirteen years ago)
remember when he played Buttafuco in the long island Lolita sketch? I just snickered out loud thinking about that
― Raymond Cummings, Monday, 15 October 2012 17:59 (thirteen years ago)
The part where he was talking about his italian blood boiling lol
― Raymond Cummings, Monday, 15 October 2012 18:00 (thirteen years ago)
they gave parnell some good bits (centaur sketch, etc...) and he always seems to get dibs at announcer roles (the kind phil hartman would get). pretty much the majority of stuff handed to tim meadows were boring "i'm the only normal dude in this sketch while everyone else gets to be crazy" after he left they tended to give these to kenan.
― Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 16 October 2012 04:40 (thirteen years ago)
Does he still do those correspondent bits on Craig Ferguson? I felt bad for him.
― 50 Shades of Greil (C. Grisso/McCain), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 05:08 (thirteen years ago)
He's AMAZING as "Percy Kittens" in the Strangers With Candy episode where Jerri finds the N word spray painted on the wall.
And the voice that he gives The Ladies Man absolutely kills me every time.
Total classic, this guy.
