i played as falcon a lot when i first started but made the switch to fox eventually. pikachu is probably my first choice but a lot of ppl think hes cheap

max, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 14:41 (thirteen years ago)

i think i played fox or samus the most in this one. voting fox

ciderpress, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 14:44 (thirteen years ago)

DK has been my least favorite in all 3 games, i am just completely incapable of playing him no matter how hard i try

ciderpress, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 14:46 (thirteen years ago)

I think I may go w/ link because he's the most fun to play but I usually go w/ mario for whatever reason, he's not even that good I just end up choosing him

in the first game, Falcon was by far the best character as he was so fast (though I've heard Ness was insane once you got used to him). in the second game they nerfed the throw so Fox became a lot better. just about everyone I knew who was really good at SSBM was a Fox or Falco guy.

frogbs, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 17:18 (thirteen years ago)

Ness was my favorite in the original by far, if you could master that PK Thunder you were sort of unstoppable. by the later games I mostly started playing these games for fun while other people I knew started graduating to srs play with no items/always on Final Destination so I kinda lost interest

yeah there was a big divide at the house i lived in in college, fun play vs. the dudes who watched the youtube videos and stuff

max, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 17:34 (thirteen years ago)

jigglypuff, because nothing is better than pwning noobs than doing it while being a dude named jigglypuff

i was also that asshole that always picked kuma the bear in MK

Kirby > Samus > Luigi > Ness > Falcon > ????

*triumphant sauce horns* (crüt), Wednesday, 24 October 2012 17:45 (thirteen years ago)

Luigi's B+up move is enough to make him at least 10x better than Mario

*triumphant sauce horns* (crüt), Wednesday, 24 October 2012 17:46 (thirteen years ago)

its called a super, crut

the problem with this series is that they never included characters from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! btw

this may be the perfect game idk

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Wednesday, 24 October 2012 17:54 (thirteen years ago)

going back and playing this one after the next-gen ones is really weird because it plays SO MUCH slower

actually mario was fun in this one because he could juggle people really easily and that was actually doable with the slower game speed

ciderpress, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 17:59 (thirteen years ago)

I tried playing one of the later games once and it was kind of overwhelming. Too much going on.

melee is the best for srs showdowns on fd, but brawl is more fun because you can design levels and give them sweet names such as 69NITRO69

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Wednesday, 24 October 2012 18:36 (thirteen years ago)

I never got into Brawl much, was super disappointed that "online mode" consisted of nothing but laggy 2-minute timed matches. That said the goofy story mode was interesting. I just never got a good feel for the game.

frogbs, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 18:38 (thirteen years ago)

never played online, just with friends irl. pwning with snake's bombs and flying kicks is partic hilarious.

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Wednesday, 24 October 2012 18:43 (thirteen years ago)

brawl is fun, i havent played it much though. melee i played far too much, and its probably my least favorite of the 3 due to being super fast and thus requiring competitive-gamer-reflexes to react to a lot of things

ciderpress, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 18:47 (thirteen years ago)

you guys ever set 4 computers on jigglypuff w/ 99 lives and then make bets

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Wednesday, 24 October 2012 18:49 (thirteen years ago)

almost!! my brother and I had a variant of it where we'd put them in with one life so it would go faster. sometimes we'd put the damage handicap up to 300.

salsa shark, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 19:36 (thirteen years ago)

a considerable portion of my spare time in college was spent making totally absurd and somewhat cruel bets on smash bros, except we were betting on games we actually played against each other. i've seen some things...

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Wednesday, 24 October 2012 19:54 (thirteen years ago)

i wasn't aware there were, like, serious smash brothers players

i got hustled pool hall-style out of $10 on a match of SSB:M, it's definitely super competitive

frogbs, Wednesday, 24 October 2012 21:30 (thirteen years ago)

yeah it wasn't until college when i learned about smash bros. TOURNAMENT PLAY and other stuff nerds usually do with more traditional fighters. lived down the hall from a guy who made hundreds of dollars off of smash bros, was one of the top olimar players in the country etc.

Never got beyond button mashing, nor enjoyed the games much because younger bro and his buds would routinely pwn me with Jigglypuff.

Leeezzarina Sbarro (Leee), Wednesday, 24 October 2012 21:43 (thirteen years ago)

one of the top olimar players in the country
