oh man, my workplace now sends a three-hole-punched, binder-ready packet in the mail every year

they sent a binder the first year, I think I am supposed to throw out last year's irrelevant materials and replace them with this year's

also, the phrase OPEN ENROLLMENT makes me shudder a little because about eight years ago I wrote a web application for a company's benefits enrollment period that interfaced with a backend system but overlaid a bunch of business rules and made it all semi-user friendly. adding and removing dependents, selecting health plans/limiting the display to what you were eligible for, and so on. so many meetings, so many arcane rules that only the benefits people really knew that had to be codified in this app

big changes this year. i honestly think everyone would take it better if the intro video had that nice professional white woman voice just say "we are cost shifting like a motherfucker this year, also becoming more paternalistic"

i had to schedule a health screening at one of those drug-test joints in the suburbs. so i can get a bonus $200 off my yearly bill.

did they actually drug test you, or just take vital signs, look in your mouth/ears/nose, and make you turn and cough?

it's just a ht/wt/waist measurement + a finger prick for glucose and cholesterol. basically they don't trust ee's to submit those numbers honestly.

I went today to my (empty) human resources department. I changed my dental insurance for naught -- my dentist of 31 years, who has always cut me slack, is out of network.

goole - it's hard to estimate...but for those of us who wear glasses there at least is that easy out at the end, you can buy some $500 BALLIN OUTTA CONTROL PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES

ha yeah an old girlfriend of mine worked in the glasses game. the EOY FSA shuffle was a big deal for her. semi-scammy too, i think her mgrs tacitly approved of backdating paperwork 12/31 pretty deep into the next january
