Should I post more often?

Two IL*ers who shall remain nameless confronted me with the suggestion that I should "post more often." Now, I'd always rather assumed my contributions went either unnoticed or unappreciated, so I have kept rather quiet. I guess I'm self-conscious or sensitive or whatever. But should I post more?

Melissa W, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nothing to do with you but I have noticed Llamasfurry animal being online for a gazillion hours. I hate the fact you guys don't have to pay for local phonecalls. Anyway yes, post more often. But only because you want to.

nathalie (nathalie), Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes! Post more often! Sell your soul to me!

DG, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Okay one outed: DG. ;-)

Who, me? I've been cutting back on my ILE/ILM time lately, actually. I just think that you don't want to be in the ILE Wet T- Shirt contest! ;-p

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh no no, I meant IM! I sometimes message a friend of my mother but I fear my nickname (metalmuzak) might put her off, thinking I am a 15 year old Korn fan.

Wet t-shirt contest? hahaha I am *up* for it. As lurker naturally. ;-)

I think we should treat this board like kudza on a misouri barn.

anthony, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah, sure, post more. I appreciate your posts.

Josh, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

'cause why DON't you?

duane, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Posting for the sake of posting: I incline to dud.

But not posting because you feel unpopular or dumb: biggest dud of all.

Unless you are unpopular. Or dumb.

But unpopularity on a web forum is meaningless (not that you are anyway), and you aren't dumb. So you should post more.

Tom, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes, post more!

I should post less

But, you should post more!

jel, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah, post more often, Melissa.

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Post more about me

Mike Hanley, Monday, 13 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mike pllsures himself thinking about the college of cardianals.

anthony, Tuesday, 14 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

two years pass...
Something about the way the board is formatted makes me feel guilty about posting new threads, for some reason.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 6 November 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

You should definitely post more, Mel! And start threads! Not that I start very many myself...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 6 November 2003 22:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'm terrified that if I post more people will begin to find me intolerable.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 6 November 2003 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't be silly!

C J (C J), Thursday, 6 November 2003 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

No, not at all. Your posts are always very thoughtful -- the kind I would like to see more of here.

Nicolars (Nicole), Thursday, 6 November 2003 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Melissa, you are an unusually intelligent and interesting person. I have no interest in Radiohead, so would ignore any threads about them, but I know you can be interesting on many other subjects too.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 6 November 2003 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I'd like to see more Melissa on here.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 6 November 2003 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

(I think you're one of the most interesting irregular posters on ILX.)

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 6 November 2003 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I'm glad you're not eating enough bran!

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 November 2003 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Jaymc, I'm asking this honestly, with the amount that I post, on what are you basing your assessment? I feel like I post barely at all, and that when I do it tends to be one of the following: a) about Radiohead, b) very short and inconsequential, c) self-pitying (see: this thread). If you can tell me what I post that seems interesting, I guess I'll try to do more of that...

Melissa W (Melissa W), Friday, 7 November 2003 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I really liked one of your end-of-year lists and yr isolation of "Wot U On"

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 7 November 2003 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel a bit sheepish about posting sometimes. I don't think my sense of humour is well received here. Meh.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 7 November 2003 00:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't think I've ever posted about Wot U On...

Melissa W (Melissa W), Friday, 7 November 2003 00:49 (twenty-two years ago)

think again

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 7 November 2003 00:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Think less. Post more.

oops in a nutshell (Oops), Friday, 7 November 2003 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahh, so I did.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Friday, 7 November 2003 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, you should post more.

"If you can tell me what I post that seems interesting, I guess I'll try to do more of that..."

The vespertine thread(s?) I can see the plus points of posting less as well though. I personally would happily delete 90% of my posts because they're either a. embarrassing b. poorly written c. of no real interest to anyone but myself. your posts don't seem to be either of these things, though, so more please.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 7 November 2003 01:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Melissa, you are far more poised at 20 than I am at almost-24. You don't even want to read some of the crap I posted on about when I was 20. Ergo, feel free to post away. You need not feel awkward or embarrassed by what you state. :)

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 7 November 2003 01:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Melissa, I'm not sure it's evident in the actual text of your posts (at least the ones I've seen in the last 9 mos.), but a) you strike me as intelligent, and b) I find your musical tastes pretty interesting (which, apart from Radiohead, I guess I've mostly gleaned from your website), and I'd be curious to see you write more about them.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 7 November 2003 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

How do I strike you as intelligent? (If it seems like I'm fishing, I probably am... I'm in a wretched mood.)

Melissa W (Melissa W), Friday, 7 November 2003 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Because you're not THE AMAZING RANDY?

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 7 November 2003 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)
