there was a pretty chill, cool interview with Key on the Champs podcast recently

these guys are good but I feel like they haven't quite peaked yet, a lot of the jokes/sketches seem to just proceed to their logical conclusion, rather than shock/surprise

The substitute-teacher sketch is indeed amazing. I've shared it with a few other teachers. I always feel a little conflicted for liking it so much, which doesn't stop me from sharing it with someone else.

I think part of it is that you can get really high-quality production value lookin stuff for so much cheaper now.

I'd bet their budget isn't enormous at all

continental breakfast is an obvious classic. 'the flicker' was another one. they were also the rare sketch show where the returning bits never lost their luster (football names, valets, substitute teacher, obama, etc.)

i think the 80s aerobics sketch might take the cake for me though, and was the kind of sketch that made me less surprised than most when jordan peele turned into a horror auteur

continental breakfast suffers amidst this competition for its so-so ending imo

Their hit:miss ratio varied pretty wildly for me esp in later seasons but for sheer quantity of amazing sketches/characters they're up there with some of the best I've seen

was rewatching some early season news with my gf, who had never seen the show, and it is for sure a bit more hit and miss than I had remembered. she wasn't particularly impressed and we ended up only watching a season or so.

Obama mic drop on the street corner is almost too short to qualify but it’s another favorite.

iirc the later seasons were stronger. though some of the all-timer sketches are in seasons 1 and 2

It always seemed to me like Andre 3000 had flamboyant style but kind of a dour personality, while Big Boi had a more restrained personal style but was also more cheerful.

I love a ton of K&P sketches but I don't think any has made me laugh harder than the crying gangster.
