rolling thread of things you've recently lost

So I smoke. Every once in a while I think I should tone down the habit and moderate it a little - it's a life motto of mine that I don't refuse myself anything, just keep it all in control - and as a psychological bit I leave the house without a lighter whenever I run out of a pack of cigarettes. What happens is that I try to de-motivate myself from buying another pack with the added inconvenience of also having to buy a lighter. Except it's not really an inconvenience at all, it's $1.79, including tax, and it's real fun getting to choose which color you want as if you're buying a new car.

Other day I decide to clean-up house and ended up finding 11 lighters. I mention this to friends and instead of being met with pitying laughter, I get admittance that the lighters they currently have are mine, and they know I never pursue them after losing them. Anyways, long story short, my life motto is absolute bullshit and I'm going to die smelling of gas-station attendant.

Also, I recently lost my grocery store discount card so that's kind of inconvenient.

wait, when did you sleep with the gas-station attendant? i'm missing something...

otm about the fun of choosing lighters, but these days i only buy white lighters because the housemate most likely both to borrow and to lose my lighters is also superstitious about white lighters and thinks they're bad luck. life has been such peace since i figured this out.
