Prime Suspect (1991): the o.g. template, her first case, a murdered woman, sexist cop culture, eventual respect. Tom Wilkinson, Zoe Wanamaker, Ralph Fiennes.

Prime Suspect 2 (1992): murder in a Caribbean neighborhood, interracial hookup, crazy head reconstruction. Colin Salmon.

Prime Suspect 3 (1993): a dead rent boy, the gay underworld, drag life, a pedo-porno ring (of course). David Thewlis, Ciarán Hinds, Peter Capaldi, Mark Strong, James Frain, Jonny Lee Miller.

Prime Suspect 4 (1995): the split-up one. A dead child maybe maybe not killed by convicted child molester, a dead country club manager and sad rich people including Kelly Reilly, the case from the first season is reopened.

Prime Suspect 5: Errors of Judgement (1996): Manchester, a drug dealer named "The Street".

Prime Suspect 6: The Last Witness (2003): Bosnians, immigration, war crimes, weekend psychos, Tennison does some travelling, Tom Hooper directed.

Prime Suspect: The Final Act (2006): her last case, another dead girl, alcoholism, Gary Lewis.

its kinda been too long since ive seen it but i think 1 > 2 > 7 > 5 > 3 > 4 > 6 ????? but i think it was surprisingly consistent, mirren kills it throughout

I liked 5 cuz I like Manchester, but as I recall the story was weak. Most of these are a little hazy to me, but George Marlow is the first and best prime suspect, so voted #1.

the (SPOILER) killer's sudden confession in 1 is one of the best bits of TV cop drama ever.
so unexpected but surely the way it happens in real-life most of the time.
