the slow avalanche of egg yolk breaking its levees is one of those amazing-natural-occurrences-in-food imo. like watching milk explode galactically being poured into coffee. i am real funny about eggs & am sorta tempted to not read this thread cause i just started eating them again after like ten years & wanna load up on calcium before i get squeamish again, but yeah the whole point is that they spill & colourise everywhere, not that they're a firm & rubbery skewerable meal element.

but i almost feel bad, thinking about white material while watching us go home, because i so just want her to do that, do her thing, film people dancing and make a muybridge wheel from the faces you see each time the pair rotate. & i wonder how it must feel preparing to make another film, knowing that zooming into any kind of territory in which people are bouncing off each other & relating & gently affecting one another would give her opportunity to do that again and again. you so inhabit the mood of a girl attending a party that has excited while on the horizon but which disappoints and leaves one directionless while attending. there is a scene of two girls being kind of loud on a bus, & you are even 'with' them then, understanding them, remembering. it unfolds so gracefully.
i watched this movie because of this post and it just kept going round in my head, overdetermining how i was seeing everything. i tried to watch it again just to shake it loose but i couldn't. i guess he was just otm.

you posted that^ BEFORE he produced the following
my dad sometimes mentions a piece of cheese he ate, once, forever ago, while he was somewhere as replete with saudade as the spaces people call hummus-hotbeds in this thread. it comes up when he talks about going to buy cheese, everyday cheese, like at the cheese shop on the high street we grew up near, trips i can remember being party to, & how these transactions are occasionally alive with anticipation, unexpectant but irrepressibly hopeful that the inevitable variety in cheese making preparation could make this brie - i think it was brie - of equal significance. & it never is, i don't think, either owing to declining artisanal facility among cheesemakers or else to the synesthetic aura that permeates the memory cheese. & i feel philistinic repping for such attainable hummuses in this thread, like those books that for some reason collate four star movies you might want to watch, but at least i know i perhaps sleep more soundly than those who have tasted the sweeter fruit. i eat hummus & forget about it; if i make it probably some of it yellows around the dish before i've reached it. can anybody rep for dependable, unpilgrimaged hummus over everyday guacamole? i understand that maybe there's something more elemental about the hummus that is made well, something of how disproportionately meaningful it can be to enjoy unaccompanied bread or tomatoes, sometimes, but that guacamole is at once attainable & still just so welcome makes it more important to me, i think.

ah, so beautiful! hey thank you for these. text + image is its own evocative zone, i think, & i remember those experiences with video; i was condition checking tapes a couple of months ago & would see these colour-shifted bleary test screens at the beginning of each, kind of strobing & pulsing, footed with ELECTRIC IMAGES in this lined & stretched white type, or with a neon green overlaid V I D E O, those curvaceous letters. but it is the way it is deteriorating that is so engrossing i think. colours auratically shifting outward, it's so wild to think about, images fully bleeding. it's like the frayed-borders of rothko orbs; what is it that is sad, seeing them? everything made for children in the 1990s & played back now looks psychotic, a fever dream, it codes just in the way we're meant to think of something as vivid in a flashback sequence. http://38.media.tumblr.com/dc38f5725b5c9b28a6fc606eda71b185/tumblr_mjjc4ncTAa1r87i11o2_1280.jpg. & all of this is realised & exploitable, too, now, like its a visible enough an effect to be evocative, & bujalski & pablo larrain & harmony korine & probably a bunch of skaters are using it. i was watching transparent & the credits aren't satisfyingly grainy super-8 footage of children playing, pieced together by lightleaks, but overplayed camcorder recordings, with sync errors & tracking lines, tape chewing itself up in playback, because generationally it's probably the most accurate shorthand for childhood-twenty-years-ago, now. i remember searching for resources about chroma artefacts & finding this, existing purely as an illustration; just so crazy beautiful-

really the smart thing to do is to try to see the same qualities in the digital that's available to us now. like those gridded kind of dropouts in dv, the sort youtubes occasionally betray in buffering, variegates squares like crudely imaged tower blocks. but it's so much easier to see with time.
