How did it get to being september already? Where's the year gone?

No, really, where's the year gone? I can't remember it. Does anyone else think it's gone suspiciously fast? Perhaps the bathplug of time has been pulled out accidentally. Or On Purpose. Who remembers June, for instance? I certainly don't.

we hid them lixi

it seemed best

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Have you checked under the chest of drawers, that's where I would hide June.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 13:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I had a birthday in June but then again certain parts of that are only remembered fuzzily, mmmm, bottle of port...

Now, April, there's a difficult one.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 13:35 (twenty-three years ago)

June according to Lixi

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 13:36 (twenty-three years ago)

I have been so busy this year that the time has flown by in what seems like only a few days! That is why it has been a very year week.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 13:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I was going to repeat Starry's logic and say that April must have existed because that's when my birthday was, but, erm. No. No, I don't think there was an April. I got... er... some cushions and a towel? Or was that Christmas? Dammit, I think you're right, I think some bastard nicked April. GIVE IT BACK. Just after October will be fine. Ta.

I'm sure time is supposed to go slowly when you're as bored as I've been all year, but no.

Rebecca (reb), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 13:41 (twenty-three years ago)

So June was there. Hmm. Why did it all go so soon? Perhaps I should read my diary and see what I did.

alix, Tuesday, 24 September 2002 13:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I've been thinking the same thing, but I thought maybe it was just age.

DeRayMi, Tuesday, 24 September 2002 13:46 (twenty-three years ago)

this year hasn't been very good, i've really wasted time this year and its shot by, up to april was good, but the whole summer was lost, not living anywhere, letting an important friendship go, i went to berlin, that was great, the only positive thing i did all summer. i want to make up for lost time now, and all of a sudden it feels like everything is happening at once. much better!

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 13:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Lixi, do you not recall winning Trig Bruvva. You fiend. It could have been me.

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 14:03 (twenty-three years ago)

i left work at six last night and it was dark before i got home.

this may have been due to the 94 from notting hill moving slower than i could walk but what can you do?

andy

Been quick but good fun, this year. Time may be slipping away from me, theoretically, but life is still grand and there's more to look forward to. :-) Now, my fears about the outside world, that's something else...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 14:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I love the fact that it is September! This is the first month of the year in the jel calender. Days getting shorter, getting colder, orion in the sky at night = happy!

But, yes the year has gone quite quick. Or maybe my days at work were so boring that to cope I have merged them into one.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

days go so slow, weeks are a drag, but months fly by. Our perception of time is all wrong.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 16:18 (twenty-three years ago)

the days have gone quicker becuz of ILX. there aren't many boring days round here.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 16:18 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, thats a good point julio.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 16:22 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel like the year has gone by to quickly. Part of this is that people seem to conspire to make it so. When I was talking to an administrator at my school about some paperwork problems, she said "hurry up it is almost october!" this was on the 15th of september!

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 16:25 (twenty-three years ago)

the years go fast and the days go slow, the days they go so slow
my brain's a cliff and my heart's the bitter buffalo
(i like inviting flames but they probably go without saying just like this should have done)

(could've done without a letter today asking how I wanted to ruin the rest of my life. and it's so bloody cold that my legs ache and everything's grey and I just want to go to bed. so ignore my grumpiness. well, I mean, I deserve to be laughed at, so do that if it makes you feel any better, but like I said it's probably so obvious that it's more effort than it's worth.)

irredeemably rockist (reb), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 16:29 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, i was trying to remember those MODEST MOUSE lyrics!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 16:32 (twenty-three years ago)

"Who remembers June, for instance? I certainly don't."

The WORLD CUP!

I don't remember July.

Venga, Tuesday, 24 September 2002 16:44 (twenty-three years ago)

July was shit... it just kept raining for most of it, even though we all knew it wasn't supposed to.

This has been the first summer I've spent entirely in this country, mostly due to work reasons. I don't intend to do so again... the British summer sucks fucking arse.

I don't remember April or March particularly well... they must have been awful.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 17:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I forgot about the world cup!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 17:08 (twenty-three years ago)

this year I have either been watching the World Cup, ill, or on holiday.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 14:21 (twenty-three years ago)

World cup, yeh, highlight of my year. There was Big Brother though. I DO remember that. And Trig Brother. When was that though? However, if that was all I did this summer I am very disappointed.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

come on. everyone knows the world cup was rigged :-)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

June and July - EFFING GRATE. We had a party Lixi do you recall that?

August - bit ropey but various travels were nice.

September - complete mare thus far except for Pete's birthday and a couple of other nights out.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 16:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I agree, Lixi, this year seems to have gone by very quickly and very slowly all at the same time. June doesn't seem that long ago, but the fact that it will be October next week kind of freaks me out. In June I think I was bored and hot. July I was sort of just waiting until August, and August went by too quickly and now I am realizing I need to get a move on or I will be pathetic really soon now.

Mandee, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 16:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Did Modest Mouse nick that lyric from Stephin Merritt?

June rained almost literally every day (save one or two at the most), that's all I remember.

July I went to Sweden, but not for very long. The rest is a blur.

August was ok I think though I have no idea what was going on. Oh, Mandee was here.

September has been nice weather. I went to France. Yes, the year has gone too fast.

Tom, Lixi and Starry's party seems to have existed outside of time. IE I have no idea when it happened.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 16:56 (twenty-three years ago)

vic (vicc13), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 17:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

When was Wimbledon? That was fantastic this year. Nothing's really come along to replace it. The Ryder Cup starts soon.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 17:31 (twenty-three years ago)

ooh that makes me think a new thread is needed!
