Jesus, that's a tough decision to make. Venice swings it towards Veneto but could have happily picked Lombardy or Tuscany. Calabria's great as well.

My Mother's side of the family has deep links with Bracciano near Rome, so gotta represent LAZIO..

Abruzzi, Molise and Basilicata are entirely unknown to me

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 15:33 (twelve years ago)

Abruzzo was where the seismologists were jailed for predicting there wouldn't be an earthquake, iirc. Pescara is meant to be quite nice.

Emilia-Romagna on a Parma-based whim

Broken Clock Britain (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 9 January 2013 15:46 (twelve years ago)

I was thinking the same. Lovely town, great nosh. Bologna's there too.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 15:49 (twelve years ago)

and Modena, and loads of Renaissance city-state wars history stuff

also Parma in the Brolin-Baggio-Asprilla era is my fave Fifa Football team ever

I'm married to an Italian and go there on avg 4 X a year but I had never heard of the Molise region - how weird

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 9 January 2013 16:07 (twelve years ago)

I let this sink in overnight and it turns out the answer is Sicily

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 10 January 2013 09:30 (twelve years ago)

Molise is definitely under the radar. I work with some people in Campobasso but always assumed it was in Puglia for some reason.

lol indeed - and sorry but these results are whack - 3 votes for Lombardia and none for Toscany?

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Friday, 18 January 2013 12:38 (twelve years ago)

Tuscany would have been my second choice, tbf but Lombardy is pretty great too. Milan, Como, the mountains, etc.

Tullamorte Tullamore (ShariVari), Friday, 18 January 2013 12:54 (twelve years ago)

Tuscany tainted by association with the chiantiista set

non-elitist melted poo (Noodle Vague), Friday, 18 January 2013 12:56 (twelve years ago)

yeah i know - not exactly hip to pick Tuscany but still. My wife is from Tuscany so that's the part I know best, but if I wanted to pick anothre region I would go for EMilia Romagna, which has some of my favorite cities (eg Ravenna, Ferrara, and Bologna ain't too shabby either)
