Bob's Burgers vs Archer

i like both but this is bob's burgers so easily.

I love both, but Bob's Burgers has a lot of heart and that puts it over the top for me.

Yes. What Archer did with the cancer storyline was nothing short of amazing.

Both these shows are so, so great. Might have to go with Archer just because shows where all the characters hate each other are often a lot more interesting.

Yeah I have to go with Archer. It just has everything I need in comedy. But I haven't watched a tonne of Bobs Burgers. I find it funny though.

I like BB, but Archer is just so damn funny. Esp. Pam and Cheryl, who kill it every episode.

Eh, I'm going Archer. I think it's funnier and just so amoral.

Also, fewer annoying sounds/poop jokes and punchlines, as funny as they can be.

Both are good, but there is something so endearing about Bob's Burgers. I'm a super fan of Linda, she's a great character. Always makes me laugh.

thx to this thread i tried to watch home movies again and that fucking squigglevision animation makes me nauseous. i know they dropped it for the second season, but i dont want to miss out on the first season. maybe i will listen to it with the tv out of my vision.

it's not like there's some longterm story arc you'll miss out on if you skip to season 2. plus it got better over time.

I love both shows & may have actually loled at a more consistent rate w/ Archer than I did / Bob's Burgers, at least throughout their respective first two seasons. Third season of BB has been next-level, tho, imo - esp the ep w/ Tina driving and Bob Odenkirk as Saul Goodman, Insurance Claims Investigator.

Just watched the crossover ep (plus the 2 archers prior).

I loved the crossover episode and love Archer in general, but still have to go with Bob's Burgers.

I enjoyed Dr Katz because it was basically stand-up routines. Home Movies was OK but wildly overrated

I don't think it sucks, but to me it is lazier.

BB gets closer to the elusive early-simpsons vibe than any other animated sitcom -- it goes for sweetness and character, not wacky refs.

BB has its share of wacky refs though

If I wanted sweetness from my cartoon characters I'd watch Grey's Anatomy.

Voted Archer, the character work and literary refs put it over the top for me.

That's one aspect of "Archer" I really love, how almost every character is a certified moron and/or lunatic, yet still occasionally capable of cutting wit and references (and surviving assassinations). I suppose that's partly because they have ... writers.

aside from the assassinations thing you just described like 90% of contemporary TV comedy

I loved/hated this note from the AV Club recap of Archer's season premiere:

American Dad (the only McFarlane show worth watching) is slept on by a lot of people, but yeah.

I watch all of these (except the Green Lantern) with my kid, they're all very good.

AD is irredeemable

There was a recent AD episode that had a scene I don't even want to explain, because you really had to see it, but basically Haley and Jeff (who was super-high) were out looking for Steve, just walking around in the street yelling his name. A guy leans out his window and says, "Yeah?" Jeff (who is, again, super-stoned) explains that they're looking for Steve, the guy replies, "My name is Steve," and Jeff looks at Haley and says, "Babe, I . . . I don't know what to do in this situation." I swear I laughed until I thought I would pee my pants.

I guess you had to be there.

The same episode featured Charlie Day of "It's Always Sunnny . . ." as an accounting-obsessed meth dealer.

The first season of AD was super awful. It became funnier and I became interested enough in the characters that I can now watch the first season without cringing but the show is much funnier now.

yeah becoming interested in the gay alien and the colonel klink fish is what i'm afraid of tbh

the first couple seasons of family guy aren't so bad, but all of macfarlane's other shows look so ugly and feel so unpleasant.

Literally all of his characters look terrible. The animation is so awful.

Klaus is a total afterthought/non-entity in AD aside from maybe one episode per season

I feel like the Cee-Lo hot tub episode jumped the shark in the best way possible and everything that followed has benefited as a result.
