That's right, the time has come.

Over the past year and change, I embarked on a journey. A journey of love, laughter, betrayal, and iconic shoulder pads. At seven seasons long, Melrose Place had many an opportunity to go awry. But from Allison and Billy's tangled love affair, to Amanda Woodward's first breath, to Lisa Rinna's brilliant portrayal of a woman on the edge as Taylor McBride, Melrose kept its torch held high throughout. Not to mention Kristin Davis.

Join me as we chronicle the many perverse and deeply revealing tales of the residents at Melrose Place, and their luminescent pool. And don't forget about Kimberly.

Ha, had forgotten abt Michael. He was the best! Wife and I wrapped up a complete rewatch of BH 90210 last month and have been contemplating tackling MP next. Tempting...

Holy shit, you watched the WHOLE THING?

I remember watching the first season of MP when it was new, and liking it a lot. I was 13 or 14, but couldn't really get into teen dramas like Beverly Hills 90210, and the characters and their problems in MP felt more mature and credible to me. Then second season started, and the whole series was turned into a ludicrous, over-the-top soap opera (apparently because the first season didn't attract too many viewers). Previously nice characters (like Michael) turned into manipulative assholes, and the everyday problems of the first season were replaced with deceit and backstabbing. I guess if the series had been like that from the beginning, I wouldn't have had problems with it, but that was the first time I recall feeling betrayed by TV executives.

yes we did and it wasn't always easy, tho I would add that season 8 was a late and very pleasant surprise

v impressive tobo. i've also seen all of both. Valerie really saves 90 on a number of occasions.

Tuomas it is a completely different show in the 1st season. 1st season is wonderful, but the later seasons are wonderful too. i totally feel u tho, it is a drastic change.

well and obv what's cool about the beginning of melrose is that it starts with the 90210 kids, and kell sticks around for a few episodes

This is one of my all time favorites. I would have a catfight in a swimming pool as a tribute to its greatness.

this was REQUIRED VIEWING in college. I lived in a dorm and you would have to make it to the common room while Bev was still on jus to get a seat, because if you showed up when Melrose was starting you'd be sitting on the floor. Like we even made BLEACHERS so that we could fit everyone. It was pretty awesome for a while. I think I stopped watching it by like 97 tho.

man I thought I didn't start watching this until several years into the run but apparently I picked up right at the beginning of Season 2

i'm telling you Lisa Rinna was the best thing that happened to that season. she is just so CRAZY

TOTAL. but in terms of calabro's acting he stayed strong throughout, kind of became the backbone of the show. he and locklear

By the start of the high-octane third season, the series became even more dark and downbeat with more mean-spirited storylines and cynical characters. Skepticism, greed, jealousy, mistrust, extortion, infidelity, and betrayal among others became the common theme for all the stories, plus every new character that is introduced turned out to be a psychotic villain of some sort, which further increased the number of viewers as Melrose Place became a dark 'guilty pleasure' with all of its characters being either villains or victims.

that is probably one of the greatest seasons of television ever assembled

Billy was for real one of the worst actors to ever land on network television, which is why I never noticed any deficiencies of anyone who had to act with him.

i remember watching this when i was really young, like probably 10/11 and having early omg hot women feelings

Also: it is a CRIME that Thomas Calabro has not done much after Melrose Place because he was by far the most talented one.

also regarding the later point of well if the audience didn’t notice what was even the point — imo that’s where streaming & the long tail of this story becomes important, like people can take all that on now, decades later & appreciate the show on a diff level
