Popcorn and soft drink are my most typical choices

Moodles, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 14:43 (twelve years ago)

I eat what I sneak and that is candy

iatee, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 14:44 (twelve years ago)

how should I vote

iatee, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 14:44 (twelve years ago)

I get popcorn and a soft drink if I'm buying it at the theater. Popcorn and a water if I'm sneaking it in. My wife will sneak in candy if she comes along, but I quit eating candy recently.

how's life, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 14:45 (twelve years ago)

option #2 suffices xp

jamie lee fox (rip van wanko), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 14:45 (twelve years ago)

Coffee and chocolate most of the time--chocolate from outside, preferably, so I don't have to pay $3.50 for a Mars bar. Popcorn and sprite occasionally. The Lightbox in Toronto treats art films like a religious pilgrimage, so food is verboten--quick communion, then we take our seats.

sunny sucessor will not let you begin eating your snacks until the movie has started, not even during the previews, the fascist.

saltwater incursion (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:32 (twelve years ago)

A couple of really nice cinemas (Newcastle, and Henley) do Coffee.

Otherwise, sneaky coffee.

Mark G, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:34 (twelve years ago)

Morbs otm. If it's quiet enough, I note people with food and move away.

Gukbe, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:38 (twelve years ago)

oh, at a repertory double feature I will get a dietcoke sometimes.

saltwater incursion (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:40 (twelve years ago)

I was pretty scandalised by the fact that some cinemas don't allow you to take your own food and drink in. The best plan of action - buy a large coffee from the bar, take in yr own whiskey to add to taste. I'm torn between coffee/beer/eat what I sneak.

emil.y, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:44 (twelve years ago)

Ah, who am I kidding? It has to be beer.

emil.y, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:45 (twelve years ago)

"Sneaky coffee", what the blummineck!

I means "Sneaky eats/sweets", that's what.

Mark G, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:28 (twelve years ago)

It depends. I'll sometimes get a coffee if it's very cold out or if it's a matinee, or sometimes I'll get a beer for movies later at night.

Ulna (Nicole), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:31 (twelve years ago)

usually just a diet coke, although at the 21+ screenings i'll get a cocktail at the bar.

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 17:36 (twelve years ago)

at the Glasgow Film Theater i buy a plastic glass of a good single malt. o/wise don't eat or drink in the cinema, don't text, talk, snore, snog etc. am a bit of a fidget, so try to sit on an aisle, and prefer somewhere in the first three rows. i have never been the only patron for a film, but got p close sometimes.

back when i was a smoker i did like to have a cigarette during a movie, tho

Popcorn and soft drink but lately it's been a burger and a beer

brimstead, Wednesday, 13 February 2013 00:11 (twelve years ago)

popcorn

I usually bring in my own coffee because Mr Veg always insists on going to the 11am saturday or Sunday screenings. I can't remember the last time I saw a movie during darktime :(

this, brought in from outside, or nothing at all

sunny is otm about waiting until the movie starts

mookieproof, Wednesday, 13 February 2013 00:33 (twelve years ago)

I don't mind M & Ms dumped into my popcorn but it's hard to do this covertly and get even distribution without making a TON of noise.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 00:34 (twelve years ago)

I eat what I sneak, unless I'm at some rep house where they have dope homemade brownies or something

Welcome to my world of proses (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 00:39 (twelve years ago)

I usually sneak in candy and/or drinks (booze, occasionally, esp if it's a midnight show) & I almost always buy popcorn.

so i voted for 'a popcorn,' but, you know, it's complicated.

manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 00:42 (twelve years ago)

i usually sneak in something but often buy stuff too - more candy, soda, popcorn, our closest theater has a full dinner menu - mostly to support the business; i really like all the old restored theaters in the bay area, and i want them to keep going + tickets are usually cheap anyway.

just1n3, Wednesday, 13 February 2013 00:55 (twelve years ago)

I might have a hard candy or two in my pocket to eat while waiting for the trailers to end and the movie start, but I never buy food from the concession stand. But I also am a notorious skinflint, never eat fast food and go to a restaurant maybe 3 times a year, so this is completely in character for me.

Aimless, Wednesday, 13 February 2013 01:01 (twelve years ago)

One of my co-workers told me recently that she sneaks in Chinese food. Like, she fully brings in and chows down on crab rangoon and egg rolls. This sort of blew my mind.

go to party leather (ENBB), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 01:06 (twelve years ago)

Popcorn and a coke and self-hatred halfway through the movie from the HFCS and sodium
sometimes a flask

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 01:08 (twelve years ago)

Twizzlers and a Diet Coke is my answer anyway.

go to party leather (ENBB), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 01:10 (twelve years ago)

stopped w/ popcorn because it was making me sick ... stopped w/ drinks because I hate having to pee 2/3 of the way through the movie. Stick to a bit of candy though.
chinese food in a theater? disgusting savages imo...

Ask The Answer Man (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 01:19 (twelve years ago)

I hate having popcorn stuck in my teeth for days, so I don't eat it all the time

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 02:54 (twelve years ago)

It doesn't have to be caffeinated or even sweet, but I have to have a liquid with me while watching a movie. I rarely bother with anything else.

NEVER get that "butter" stuff on your popcorn btw. I worked at a movie theater for a while when I was younger and that stuff looks like the human fat from Fight Club before it is heated.

The Mini-Mamas and the Mini-Papas (latebloomer), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 06:56 (twelve years ago)

I don't get this "sneak stuff in" thing... In the USA, people aren't allowed to bring their own food/drink to the cinema?! What happened to freedom?

Tuomas, Wednesday, 13 February 2013 09:03 (twelve years ago)

OTOH, in Finland you aren't allowed to drink alcohol in the cinema except in some rare special screenings.

Tuomas, Wednesday, 13 February 2013 09:06 (twelve years ago)

As a side note, I first saw Coffee & Cigarettes in an outside cinema located at the inner yard of a cafe, and it was pretty cool to drink coffee and smoke while watching the movie.

Tuomas, Wednesday, 13 February 2013 09:08 (twelve years ago)

In the USA, people aren't allowed to bring their own food/drink to the cinema?!

Varies from place to place but in most theaters bringing your own food is technically not allowed. This is rarely enforced though. People sneak all kinds of stuff in.

90% of the time I don't get anything; every now and then I'll have some popcorn.

HuffPo Sideboob/Underboob Bureau Chief (WilliamC), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 14:46 (twelve years ago)

I don't usually get anything. If I do,I finish it before the movie starts.
If at a commercial multiplex type place I don't get anything from the concessions but might bring in some candy or baked goods.
At an independent theater I might get an espresso (generally nothing larger), maybe some cake or something.
