Rounders, for both his performance and the movie itself. He's got the flashy Johnny Boy role from Mean Streets, in which actors generally thrive, and he does great.

larry flynt. this guy's a little like spacey for me, where he played a few too many know-it-all dickheads and i just got sick of him. hard to fault a lot of those early perfs though

I really like Norton in Red Dragon, in the midst of all the inanity. I haven't seen Primal Fear since it came out, but I remember his weasliness as being very effective, especially at the key moment.

don't really care about Norton but I am curious about this - Motherless Brooklyn probably the last Lethem novel I liked, and mixing the Power Broker into it w/ a good cast seems like an interesting approach.

If I had to say the single biggest contributor to people preferring to watch things on Netflix versus going to theaters, it’s that the theaters nickel and dime on bulbs. People have no idea how many theaters do this. A lot of filmmakers and cinematographers that I know that have really started to look into this say that more than 60 percent of American theaters are running their projector at almost half the luminosity that they’re required by contract to run it at. It’s the theater chains that are destroying the theatrical experience. Period, full-stop. No one else.
