It's 10:35 pm where I am, and after a day of band rehearsal and recovery from the previous grueling week, I had a nice big chunk of time set aside for the sole purpose of making progress on the novel I have been working on since the beginning of the year. So have I been spending this time diligently at work stringing together words into sentences?

Nope. I am in the plug.dj room listening to Krautrock.

FOR SHAME!

Anybody else here procrastinating on their novel? Need some encouragement? Or just somebody to play 'boss' and tell you to quit dicking around on the clock?

You'll know you are serious about your novel when you find your mind constantly sidling over from whatever you're supposed to be doing to gnaw on some gristly bit of the plot or sifting your characters' motives down to a fine grained awareness of how they think and why.

I tried ti give this thread a sort of novelistic OP (to sone extent, I mean no setting was established) but mostly this thread is for people trying to write novels to egg each other on to completion

Do you want to just finish it? There's a pretty foolproof method but it's by the guys who wrote night at the museum and it's pretty explicit that this method is completely inappropriate in terms of making artistic masterpieces. On the other hand, night at the museum made a kajillion dollars.

i hear you, thread. *gets to it*

So I just got the idea for my fourth novel today. Of course, at some point I will have to actually sit down and write anything, but if I ever get to write these four sorta interconnected novels, it will be quite impressive.

It's about a graveyard in Northern Jutland, and halfway through it turns into Bobok/Pedro Paramo. Yeah, that doesn't sound clichéd at all. It is a really pretty graveyard, though.
