I think I've found a new hobby and/or pastime.

(I'm a thread rampage this week)

Graham (graham), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Classic. It means you're from Mangchestoh.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:15 (twenty-three years ago)

i call everyone "boss"

mark s (mark s), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:15 (twenty-three years ago)

You've earned the priviledge Graham, since you have gained years of experience as a man-ho that your peers do not have.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:16 (twenty-three years ago)

kid is ok, i hate people that call me 'guy'

ron (ron), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:17 (twenty-three years ago)

B-b-but the Piccadilly palare was just silly slang between him and the boys in his gang!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Dud. Calling people your age "son": CLASSIC.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Classic, I hope, because I do it all the time.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:27 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm with ron. "kid"'s alright but "guy" makes me foam at the mouth. ("dude" is speaker-specific but for the most part please don't).

the actual mr. jones (actual), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:51 (twenty-three years ago)

in liverpool 9 year old children call you "lad".

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Dud. Calling them "my brother", especially if they are women: classic.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Friday, 27 September 2002 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

BETTER THAN "BIG GUY."

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 27 September 2002 15:12 (twenty-three years ago)

There's a guy about 5 years older than me who loves it when I call him "young man". When i met him i assumed he was younger because he is so mini.

He's way less creppy than the guy who gives me 10 pounds to call him daddy

Sofa King Alternative (Sofa King Alternative), Friday, 27 September 2002 15:14 (twenty-three years ago)

i like 'kiddo', but only as in
'take it from me kiddo' as in e.e. cummings.

piscesboy, Friday, 27 September 2002 17:41 (twenty-three years ago)

classic, it makes me feel cool and witty even though i am not.

Maria (Maria), Friday, 27 September 2002 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

in liverpool 9 year old children call you "lad".

"La'" surely?

"young 'un" & "nipper" are favourites of mine.

Simeon (Simeon), Friday, 27 September 2002 17:50 (twenty-three years ago)

it is such a fucking dud and i hate when people do it to me.

maura (maura), Friday, 27 September 2002 17:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Why stop at kid? I call them foal, filly, suckling, piglet, puppy, kitten, tadpole, and larva at random. This is my way of encouraging a reuinion of the adorable Australian band Baby Animals.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 27 September 2002 17:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Dud. It's basically a diminutive, and hence patronising. Ok, like good friends could call me kid, or kiddo, or dude or young man or whatever. But generally my best friends just look at me, say nothing, but think: 'you bastard!'
Thing that gets my goat though is that I seem to have got casually fond of people calling me 'Sir' when I walk into establishments.

Gordon, Friday, 27 September 2002 19:17 (twenty-three years ago)

By the time you're middle-aged you will be thoroughly sick of people calling you 'sir', if my experience is anything to go by. And it generally isn't, and I never liked it anyway, come to think of it.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 27 September 2002 19:31 (twenty-three years ago)

As long as you don't say Dude its ok by me

brg30 (brg30), Friday, 27 September 2002 20:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Dude = Dud.

d000000d!!! = Classic.

Kid = bland.

Emu = trying too hard.

Daniel_Rf, Friday, 27 September 2002 22:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Han Solo + kid = classic
Anyone else + kid= dud
Cheif, Boss, Big Guy = complete dud
"com on my Son" can be classic tho

Kiwi, Friday, 27 September 2002 22:25 (twenty-three years ago)

"Playa" and "Brewph" = Classic

Stuart, Saturday, 28 September 2002 01:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Classic. Unless they don't deserve it. I've only used it as a sort of momentary micro-dis cf. "son" "pal" "bub".

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 28 September 2002 06:12 (twenty-three years ago)

A good friend of mine who's a girl always calls me kid, I like it cos it's kind of a running joke and she's cool. Calling random people I don't know kid would be lame.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 28 September 2002 14:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Unless you wanted to start a fight and then it would be... hm even lamer I guess.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 28 September 2002 18:01 (twenty-three years ago)

This is my way of encouraging a reuinion of the adorable Australian band Baby Animals.

ARGH. *beats Nabisco savagely*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 28 September 2002 20:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I like greeting friends with 'hello kids'. Otherwise I don't do it but I don't really care.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 28 September 2002 20:59 (twenty-three years ago)

nothing beats "slugger". like, nothing.

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 28 September 2002 21:12 (twenty-three years ago)

i like 'fella', 'cock', 'son' and 'kid' are great. so's 'old lad'. but 'cock' is a favourite due to massive space for it to be misconstrued.

matthew james (matthew james), Saturday, 28 September 2002 22:20 (twenty-three years ago)

oh? and why would that be?

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 28 September 2002 22:25 (twenty-three years ago)
