Seconding _The Cyberiad_. The English translation is really good, too.
_Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?_ is worth a peek, I suppose, though I hardly remember it anymore. Ditto the obvious Asimov collection _I, Robot_ which is more like Sunday paper puzzles in short story form.

I started getting interested in robots again because I heard this documentary about robots in the workplace about 5 times (they keep repeating it on the world service) and wanted to imagine what the future might be like regarding machines. Not like Terminator 4 I hope
