I have enough interesting stuff in my life that I keep thinking about making this thread as a sort of quasi-craigslist thing and figured wtf let's give it a try

Damn I would love to go but it's a bit far. I have an album they did together and it is brilliant.

Dang Forks, that sounds awesome but I have plans with friends at least into the early evening. I guess if you still don't have someone at like 7ish and you want to text me, go for it -- maybe it can happen.

oh wow, yeah I saw he was playing. I have only seen footage of him playing in living rooms. new lp on d2d soon too.

schlump, Saturday, 23 March 2013 04:27 (twelve years ago)

i talked with the D2D guy after; Lonnie basically was doing stream of consciousness for about an hour and a half. It was amazing, totally kick in the face stuff. a lot of monologuing in the style of abner jay but with real tight, intelligent and OUT THERE mindset. a lotta sun-ra/george clinton/lee perry madness and truth. def one of the best shows i've seen this year.

I forget: is your dad a hardcore gospel nerd?

bamcquern, Wednesday, 24 December 2014 06:38 (ten years ago)

yah, he's a scholar in the field. Why ya ask?

MAYBE HE'S NOT THE BEST THIGH SLAPPER IN THE WORLD (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 24 December 2014 19:35 (ten years ago)

Saw his name in the acknowledgements of this old Gotham gospel comp I got yesterday.

bamcquern, Wednesday, 24 December 2014 20:00 (ten years ago)

the p-vine one? that's a humdinger.

MAYBE HE'S NOT THE BEST THIGH SLAPPER IN THE WORLD (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 24 December 2014 23:00 (ten years ago)

It's an 80s LP from Krazy Kat and has a little less than half the same material as the first P-Vine comp. It's pretty good. I'd never heard early Violinaires, and I didn't know there was a "Clouds of Joy" besides the Mighty Clouds of Joy.

Don't really know directly, am familiar through Mr. Finewine and seeing the Dansettes perform a few times back in the day. Was in my neighborhood seeing a show last week and I recognized although it took me a while.
