looks pretty terrible. such a waste too. he could have used all of those gimmicky visual ideas to make a dozen cool music videos or commercials instead.

I watched some of this and wouldn't have guessed it either... its a weird failure of a movie, Rogen is totally miscast/unbearable

oh god, my optimism was entirely based on my mindset before watching the trailer. i still WANT this to be better than his last few but...yeah, he needs charlie kaufman. (does anybody rep for the science of sleep? i thought it was terrible but that's his last one i can see garnering some defenders.)

loved science of sleep, enjoyed be kind rewind as well and obv love gondry in general but him plus tatou scares the hell out of me

agree that he really needs Kaufmann (and vice versa - the two really compliment each other well, seems like each reigns in the others worst tendencies, Kaufmann towards navel-gazing self-loathing and Gondry towards empty cutesiness)

did you guys miss his documentary on his schoolteacher aunt? also he just did a neorealist film about teenagers in the Bronx, not sure if it played outside NYC yet.
