mh, Monday, 29 April 2013 02:51 (twelve years ago)

ate hibiscus tacos at a new mexican place last night, real good. even if they'd been terrible i'd have been sustained by their aesthetic & pleasing name & deep burgundy hue.

This is the most Lechera-flavored of all flavored threads evar. I'm sure she will be here momentarily.

I don't like flower tastes in general but the wonderful thing about sorrel/jamaica is that it's so assertive and sour, like a fruit.

I have some Wistaria jelly that's pretty good. It's made locally around here.

Flor de calabaza in soup or in a taco or quesadilla = heavenly. Dandelion tea is nice. Dandelion & burdock is a refreshing drink. Agua de jamaica is delicious. Parma violets are the best fucking sweet. Rose flavoured anything is cool (as is black sesame ice cream fuiud). Cherry blossom tea also good.

Turns out I like eating flowers? Good enough for homer simpson, good enough for me.

If ever I bite into baklava and it has rose water, I put it back on the plate, push the plate forward, and cry into my sleeve. It didn't have to be this way

Rose Kulfi is amazing.

You can fondle the cube but it will not respond. (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 29 April 2013 10:09 (twelve years ago)

Cannot staaaaand anything rose flavoured/scented/etced. Bleugh. Ditto earl gray tea for its floralness.

But I do like chammomile and jasmine teas. Thats... about it for me I think.

Omg, I love rose, violet, lavender flavours. Never cooked with them though... I should rectify that. You can get seeds to grow edible flowers! Not sure i've ever tasted one though.

Earl grey is great when it's a subtle flavour. I've had earl grey chocolate and it was horrible, tons of bitter flavour.

kinder, Monday, 29 April 2013 12:30 (twelve years ago)

Oh and elderflower which is the most magical flavour ever.

kinder, Monday, 29 April 2013 12:31 (twelve years ago)

I like a cup of Earl Grey now and then but it's an edge case -- too strong and it's like drinking perfume. Also had some "artisanal" Earl Grey/vanilla ice cream once: delicious (bc not too highly tea-flavored).

Oh god yeah elderflower is gorgeous xp

The choi sum we sell at work is usually just stem & leaves but very very occasionally you'll get the odd packet with the little yellow flowers still on it. I keep meaning to buy it when it comes in like that, looks tasty.
