only familiar with borowitz and it's just dreadful, really disheartening that he's being paid what i assume is a decent wage to put out the vanilla garbage he is

its regional tragedy that the new yorker chose to associate themselves w that fool

borowitz based on sheer popularity alone

Borowitz is simply a tidy and sanitized version of The Onion, which is okay for people who like that kind of thing. The Daily Currant is just completely inept at whatever it's trying to be.

I dunno, I kind of have a grudging respect for things that do what they do well even if I don't like them. The Daily Currant doesn't do anything well.

borowitz is the definition of a hack - i wouldn't equate success with doing something well

Daily Currant gets mistakenly forwarded as real news by retirees on my fb feed. Borowitz gets mistakenly pasted as real news on ilx. Think I hate Borowitz more.

Borowitz is "comedy" but just awful, turning us all into lex. DC seems to fundamentally misunderstand what a joke is and is really defensive about it to boot. Despite AB's maddeningly elevated platform this goes to DC.

shouts and murmurs is at least goofy. borowitz's main sin is his squareness

nyer has always published shitty humor, and i would guess without having seen any numbers that borowitz makes up 10-20 percent of nyer web traffic, and probably brings in extra readers that pay for the good stuff. daily currant just exists, there is no positive externality

nyer also has a proud tradition of funny humour (sj perelman, early woody allen, some of the comics) that is being debased by their affiliation with the borman

Oh wow, if yer gonna use this as your metric... by god, the Borowitz one should win by a country mile, so deeply unfunny on so many levels. DC is pretty horrible too, though

check out the most popularlist and most emailed lists a couple times a day and youll notice that his stuff is always on them, more than any other writer or category except maybe amy davidson, plus hes got this immense email list that he sends all his stuff out to w/ hundreds of thousands of subscribers

i think its 50/50 duped rubes and unfunny old liberals
